Same goes for me, overall, I think. There's just something about Goku... I usually stray away from liking the main characters of series, but like the narrator says... Goku's the one that everyone always loved, the most!
SSJ2 Gohan (Cell Games era) is my favorite bad-ass character, though. With the exception of not killing Cell right away (whoops!), he didn't take SHIT from Cell, and let him have it.

Hola, I'm new here.
Now that that is out of the way, I have to go with my old stand-by: Piccolo. He was really the first character I had seen from the series and was the reason I kept watching. He also has this badass-osity to him.

I believe he is Toriyama's favorite (American Shonen Jump 1 has an interview where he says that). Though he does seem to be a bit absent minded at times, so his favorites could change.

It's apparent that Piccolo remained Toriyama's personal favorite character, because he's the only one from the first series that wasn't tossed aside later on (granted, he became the wacky babysitting uncle, but he was still AROUND).
Yamcha does nothing but sit around in his suit, Tenshinhan's out in the mountains (at least he got his shots in on Cell and Buu, though!), Lunch is off drunk somewhere, Kuririn's around but barely doing anything besides playing cards... it's sad!
