Good Guys:
Gohan - ma boi Gohan, he's just so cool to me and it's honestly not to do with SS2 that much, I've supported him through thick and thin *COUGHS LOUDLY* WHOLE OF THE START OF DBS UNTIL THE TRUNKS ARC... pardon me. He's chill as hell but can kick ass at the same time and an extra plus for the return of Ultimate
Goku (aka the MAN, aka THE MAN WITH NO PLAN, aka the MAIN CHARACTER, aka MR dragonball! Of course he's cool! Sucks that others have to be reduced to nothing to make him more cool though....)
Krillin (he has guts to fight the villains despite bing outclassed more often than not! )

So many different answers, what people find cool varies wildly it seems

1. Zamasu - Warped notions of morality. I enjoyed his character most when it was still progressively transitioning from its initial on the fence weariness of mortalkind. Also, Anime Zamasu is my preferred interpretation of the character. He still ultimately devolves into a sadistic murdering psychopath, but at least beforehand he retained some rationality to back up his actions. Shame he never tried reinforce them with some more dissection of the corruption ailing mortals like Freeza's empire being allowed to run amok while the largely incompetent galactic king and organisation quake in their collective shoes. Trunks' splintering of the timeline creating just as much ailment within certain timelines as he saved would have been another valid arguing point he could have made to demonstrate the grievous mistakes of Trunks' actions despite his good intentions.

2. Hit - Typical silent strong man type, but he distinguishes himself with his temporal distortion abilities and Neijia based fighting style. He's an unrepentant killer with a sense of fair play who doesn't mince words with what his profession entails. I know some may vehemently disagree but he reminds me a little of a more seriously interpreted extraterrestrial rendition of Yamcha the desert bandit, except he kills for profit instead of providing ultimatums of death in the hope of profiting. Good sartorial design as well -- the coat and combat boots accommodate the dark severity of what his profession entails. Moreover, any non-Saiyan character who can pressure DB's favoured species is given a point of consideration from me.

3. Frost - Won't lie that I was disappointed in the grand "unveiling" of his slimy underbelly, metaphorically speaking. However, his utilisation of biological toxins to gain the upperhand over opponents already makes him distinguishable from most fighters who prefer to keep screaming and punching like a mad man despite being blatantly outmatched. His modus operandi for profiting off the conflicts of his universe makes him more conniving than his more blatantly megalomaniacal sadist cousin in Universe 7. I enjoy the fact that Frost isn't a complete replica of Freeza. He's demonstrated less susceptibility to losing his temper in combat. Obsessively pursuing those who overpowered him doesn't cloud his judgement as it did with Freeza. Also, I can't help but feel a tinge of pity for him when we see him on the run from the authorities. He's an underhanded manipulator of countries and people with a selfish motive, but watching him having sunk so low, his desperation to survive when confronted by Hit and subsequent devastation at realising his efforts were all for not almost portrays him in a slightly sympathetic light for me, personally. Part of me almost wants to root for him during the tournament.

I'm quite surprised that I like characters introduced by Super over the good old ones, but that's the truth as of now.

Primarily for this one, very small moment:

I always thought this was a really nice moment. Yamcha doesn't resent Trunks in the slightest despite the circumstances of his birth, and he tells Trunks the words he's wanted to hear about his father.
Yamcha as a whole took his break up with Bulma shockingly well, and having been through a similar long term relationship that ended in disaster, I can respect his ability to be so chilled and get past it.

Other moments proving Yamcha is the most cool, chilled out dude on Earth;
Offering to take Krillin's place against the Saibamen to avoid Krillin being unable to be wished back.
Forgiving Tenshinhan really quickly for shattering his leg. Tien looked like he was about to commit sepukku, and Yamcha was all "Nah man, it's cool."
Reassuring Marron about her father fighting Pintar
Half the baseball episode. Guy has some serious skill there.
Not getting too torn up when it becomes obvious his friends would rather choose to revive Frieza and put him on their team than select him. Huge insult, but he handled it shockingly well.
