Yeah, he was friggin' fantastic in Z. He was an amazing villain in DB too.
I just started watching random fights from the Android/Cell saga and I got to his first encounter with Cell. The sense of relevance his character used to have and the importance Toei gave his scenes....it makes me want to start gnawing on my keyboard in frustration when I see his role in Super.
He will always be pretty popular for this franchise, but yeah, if he keeps getting scraps things aren't looking great for him.
Eh. He had a great fight against Goku in the 23rd Budokai but he really wasn't anything special as a villain in DB as a whole imo.
Fair enough, he was nowhere near the villain his father was and he never actually got to do anything heinous. Toriyama had probably already decided he'd switch sides so he couldn't make him too unpleasant.
Still, that was one heck of a fight......
kinisking wrote:Y'all still looking at percentages and thinking you know how the audience feels about the episode ? Really ?
At this point, I just like to believe the fanbase is parodying itself... I have never been part of such a ridiculous fanbase in my life, sub vs dub, Kai dub vs Z that is all nothing compared to what I have witnessed since Super. I have been part of the problem too for sure especially at the start but then one day I came to stark realisation, I pray one day a majority of the fan base have a similar epiphany.
It only gets ridiculous when they say stuff like. "Low ratings this week, guess the Japanese fans didn't like [insert plot point that that you would had to have watched the episode to see]"
The reason for low ratings is basically that they gave screen time to the character/arc which I don't like and is higher due to the character/arc I like.Dragon ball's fan base is reaching the unreachable theory crafting skills of one piece and one punch man fan base.
Why power levels are important?
Spoiler:
Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.
As expected those "leaks" turned out to be fake, though it makes me think that it would be cool if Vegeta achieved something new first this time. In the manga he says next time he will be the first to unlock something new/better, after he masters Blue. Could it be foreshadowing something? Maybe they could give him Kale's form (or something very similar), and explain that Vegeta is a descendant of U7's LSSJ and that's why his "superior" genes allow him to transform in the true Saiyan form, which would also explain why Vegeta and his father were on a whole another level compared to the other Saiyans, and Goku being just a very mediocre Saiyan in terms of genetics would never be able to achieve the true form.
This is very unprobable to happen though, so maybe Vegeta could unlock an unrefined version of Goku's new form first? I just hope he will get to do something more than just jobbing and get all angry and jealous with Goku.

Vegeta will always be Goku sceond. The moment he loses, he will become as relevant as Tien.

It's the history of Japan thing that's airing next Saturday (the one with samurai Vegeta). It's not the special, but I suppose you could call it a special.
Probably Kanzenshuu's biggest Bulla fangirl. Current avatar: DBU Bulla as Sailor Princess Sadala, based on Sailor Moon: Cosmic Dance
Dragon Ball Ultimate - 74 out of 150 chapters complete JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Action Blue - link Sailor Moon: Mindful of Love - link | Sailor Moon: Cosmic Dance - link
Know what would be interesting? Have Goten and Trunks running around learning about history. Kid viewers learning from kid characters. It would be a nice way to utilize them at a time they aren't really being utilized.

About the rumors of Super possibly ending with episode 133, that wouldn't actually be bad at all if there's a new Dragon Ball show exactly after it.
Say, if the tournament ends around episode 120 (I think it will end sooner though) and Super ends at 133, that would be 13 weeks of fillers. They could make some fun filler about Goten and Trunks growing up, show more of Pan's relationship with Goku etc... to lead up to the end of Z. It would be a little weird if Super suddenly went after EoZ, considering it's been marketed as being set in the 10 years of gap.
Then they could either make a new brand or pick DBZ up again. I mean, wouldn't it be much better from a marketing point if they announced DBZ is returning? Though it's very unlikely because they would have to continue starting from episode 292 in that case, I think.
Anyways, a new show planned in advance would finally fix the schedule, and we would also get new designs (hopefully better ones). I would definitely endure another wave of fillers if it means they fix the show. Although it could be counter-productive if they suddenly dropped the Super brand considering it's doing well and there's also a manga under the same name.
Do you guys think there's a possibility we will be getting a new show to mark the beginning of stories set after Z and the manga, if it happens at all? Or would they continue with Super, even if it goes after the end of the manga?

There are NO F**king rumours about the show ending on episode 133, please stop with this f**king nonsense. The BD Box for 11 having ONE EXTRA EPISODE DOES NOT F**KING MEAN ANYTHING!!!!!!!!

Speculation and saying, "About the rumors" when those rumors don't really exist are two very different things. In a franchise that is plagued by false rumors, I completely get being angry. Those rumors from 2ch also haven't been confirmed to be fake either as that same poster suggested in another post (even though they probably are).

If they really end Super at 133 episodes which ending will be the one of EoZ, it's about time to do that, but on the other hand it will be a huge waste of potential that of exploring Uub's and Goku's shared fate.
I don't want any other fancy named series after Super, I want Super to continue as long as possible if they want other stories.
English is not my first language!
I'm still waiting for Dragon Ball in Super...
