A flawless character who wins everything without any effort and is loved and fawned over by everyone in the cast. May have unique over the top special features about them. They're the ultimate in self-insert over indulgence.

Based on what we currently know about Jiren, yeah I can see that.

If there's anywhere Jiren's lacking to complete the role it's his bland design. His physical appearance has no pizzazz to it. A Mary or Gary Sue usually looks "sexually attractive" on sight.

I don't see the problem with Caulifla. I don't mind the character at all and in terms of attitude she makes a nice counter part to Cabba. It's only a pity that's she's 'tied' to Kale, a character that (just like the one she's based on) I can't stand at all.

This. From here on out, unless things change, whenever we see Caulifla, we're sure to see Kale along side her. I'd like to see both characters fleshed out more and not always seen as a set. Wishful thinking.

I think it's a Toriyama problem. They're stuck with each other the way Beerus and Whis are. The way Kid Trunks and Goten are. The way Gohan and Piccolo are.

I just wished they had never made Kale a female Broly. It feels forced and pointless... Cheap pandering.

Yeah, especially with how they rarely use her Broly mode to begin with. Had it just been her Controlled SS mode and her outfit didn't mirrior Broly's, I wouldn't have had much of a problem. But her whole appeal was intended for Broly fans, but even they despise her character.

I think it's a Toriyama problem. They're stuck with each other the way Beerus and Whis are. The way Kid Trunks and Goten are. The way Gohan and Piccolo are.

Even those characters, excluding Goten and Trunks, have times where they separate from each other, though.

They aren't only self inserts, btw. They tend to be, but not being a proper self insert does not completely invalidate sue-ness.

There is nothing Sueish about her you just don’t like the character. Mary Sue has got to be one of the most overused terms in fandom.

What? Are you saying you don't find his Arnold Schwarzenegger muscles, classic alien-like eyes and deadpan expression arousing? Clearly he's the Universe 11 equivalent of Adonis.

Haha, seeing as 11's counterpart Universe 2 is all about beauty in the eye of the beholder I'm sure Jiren does have his in-universe and out of universe fans.

But man, it feels like he was designed to be the opposite of the handsome newcomer in both looks and personality.

Yeah, especially with how they rarely use her Broly mode to begin with. Had it just been her Controlled SS mode and her outfit didn't mirrior Broly's, I wouldn't have had much of a problem. But her whole appeal was intended for Broly fans, but even they despise her character.

Her slim ssj form basically saved Kale from becoming a failure, she is slowly becoming likeable, and I wont mind if she gets to survive Freeza due Caulifla sacrificing herself in the process and then moves on to the Final 10.
