To be fair, Freeza's involvement in the arc probably sold more action figures and other merchandise... which, as cynical as it may sound, is probably the #1 reason to include him.

He'd have to get merchandise for that. If you look at the Super merchandise thread, almost all of the upcoming releases are Goku, Vegeta, Black or Vegito, or one-offs of the other Saiyans.

The whole concept of "good guy Freeza" makes me so sick to my stomach I honestly want to vomit. I wouldn't watch the next Dragonball series if he becomes an ally. It would be the biggest jump the shark moment in Dragonball history.

Dragon Ball is a history of Shark Jumps, Frieza becoming good would be nothing compared to all the other shit.

Plot armor. If there are no further plans for a character's involvement in the ToP, they get eliminated, if there are further plans, they need to be in a usable state when their moment comes.

Not sure if there is a seperate topic for this but... what do you guys think of the illustrator's work for dragon ball super?
Personally I'm not too keen on the way the characters (especially the faces) have been illustrated.

The spoiler seems kind of vague, especially because the preview focuses so much on Vegeta, 17 is only shown for a second and Freeza isn't shown at all. This sounds more like what happened in 125.
If Freeza gets up again, hopefully he doesn't screw up and get knocked off the stage. Would seem like a waste after being saved by 17 last episode.

It matches up with that the WSJ for 126 said. 17 and Frieza try to fight Toppo and get mowed down by his counter attack, then he joins up with Jiren to fight Vegeta.

It seems to be one of those summaries that focuses more on the situation at its beginning. I won't be surprised if Freeza doesn't stand up at all in this one.
