Dang...So Mignogna assaulted even Monica Rial? Always a shame when someone is just as much of a creep as the character they played, isn't it ?

Re: Vic Mignogna
Do you have a link to that specific tweet? It's not showing up on the chain that I'm looking at. That's not to say I'm doubting it at all mind you - I'd just like to have it to link people too as well when someone asks me about it.jjgp1112 wrote:Replying to @BombasticIan @MarcoUrtiz
I am 100% talking about Vic Mignogna. This has nothing to do with him being inappropriate with fans.
Because at this point, as hard as it is for me to say this...it's pretty much impossible not for me to believe it. As much as I hate to say this, especially with how vocally I've said 'innocent until proven guilty' - a sentiment I 100% still stand by in general, mind you, because in a perfect world that would be how things should always operate: but we clearly don't live in a perfect world, so perhaps I'm being too idealistic to hope that it could be even that close to one - things on the Vic Mignogna issue have ramped up to a point now where...it's basically impossible for me not to believe it to be true.
Previous times this all came up, it would be hear-say from some random people all over the internet that could have been saying it for any reason whatsoever. It would come up, be bandied about for like a day, two days tops, and then it would fizzle out without any further proof. Then the internet wold move on, and I and so many others would be left to think 'well, guess there's nothing else to that then'. But this time? This time it's been going on for well over a week a this point, and rather than just coming and going and fizzling out quicker, it's only gotten stronger. It's even come from multiple sources who we know for a fact have been in contact with him, and quite regularly, people who have absolutely no reason to try and gain anything from false claims, and yet plenty to lose by speaking out. So at this point, I'm forced to assume that it pretty much must be true. And that's a bitter pill to swallow, but I'll just have to deal.
On an aside, I'd like to apologize to JulieYBM for that utter bullshit ironfist tried to get into. Not on ironfist's behalf, by ANY means, but just in general for having had to see it. That was just asinine ugliness that I'm disappointed to see anyone ever try to act out about, and I'm glad he was so quickly banned for it. I implore you and everyone else here to please, if you can, to not (automatically at least) lump myself or any other doubters (or former doubters) of this entire situation in with that kind of person, because the level of bigotry and sexism I just saw on display from their end was disgusting to my very core.

You're trying to merge porn and the standard film industry as one to make it seem like they're all actors and actresses which isn't really true but, whatever. lolJulieYBM wrote:

The acting skills of porn stars are about on par with the Funimation talent pool circa 1999 at least

Do laugh at the management and industry of porn though, because they're exploitative and evil.Porn content creators are artists that sculpt their bodies and skills to produce quality content, whether successful or not. Don't laugh at sex workers or members of the labor force.
Oh, but when I say laugh, I mean criticize and make people aware of the injustices they bring.
Like, not to act like almost all porn is something other than wank material (and what isn't usually isn't live-action anyway), but people ignoring or shying away from talking about it because it's mostly wank material is part of the reason that it's one of the worst industries to work ever, especially for women.

Vic cast her in a role for Juni Taisen simuldub a year or so ago so I assume this must've been something that happened after that then, things really are getting worse by the day.emi_b7 wrote:https://twitter.com/Rialisms/status/1093283179329400832Gyt Kaliba wrote:Do you have a link to that specific tweet? Much obliged. Again, wasn't a question of doubt on that one, I just couldn't find that exact Tweet in the chain (I'm extremely Twitter illiterate sadly). ^_^;emi_b7 wrote:https://twitter.com/Rialisms/status/1093283179329400832Gyt Kaliba wrote:Do you have a link to that specific tweet? There’s always someone who has to make a jab at the old dub even when there’s no reason to, huh?MasenkoHA wrote:The acting skills of porn stars are about on par with the Funimation talent pool circa 1999 at least

I mean, to be entirely fair, you could ask a non-fan who doesn't know anything about Dragon Ball if "Having these balls makes me feel something that resembles joy, I think. I want to caress them." was from porn or not, and I think you'd find most would guess porn.MasenkoHA wrote:It’s a Dragon Ball forum. Wasn’t that line from the Ocean dub? Which I guess was technically was written by someone working for Funimation but was still said by an Ocean voice actressGyt Kaliba wrote:I mean, to be entirely fair, you could ask a non-fan who doesn't know anything about Dragon Ball if "Having these balls makes me feel something that resembles joy, I think. Or was that after the switch?
Edit: I checked. It was from the Ocean era but I’m drawing a blank was that line retained in the 2005 in-house redub?

Re: Vic Mignogna
Was still Ocean, yeah, but you'd probably be hard pressed to find anyone that was any more fond of Pauline Newstone's Freeza than they were of Linda Young's (actually you'd probably have an easier time finding the latter overall). Not sure on if they kept that line in the Ultimate Uncut re-dubs or not...been too long since I watched Z.
Back more on topic though, we still don't have a date for when the new version of Broly is coming to FighterZ, do we? Because unless they've already recorded that in English here, I'd imagine there's a good chance that'll be where we'll first hear a new take on Broly.

Re: Vic Mignogna
Wait, what? Vic Mignogna? A creepy pervert? Wow. I can’t help but be hesitant to beleive this. I’ve met him in person and he just seems like the last person in the world who would do these kinds of things. I’ve always admired his work and he seems like a genuinely great guy. People naturally gravitate to him. I guess I can see a man like that taking advantage of his charm to creep on people... if true, this is incredibly disappointing to hear.
I will say that people here should be understanding of healthy skepticism of accusations. It’s truly unfortunate for the real victims of sexual assault, but the politicalization of the “#MeToo” movement (ie; the ridiculous Brett Kavanaugh fiasco) has left a lot of people thinking twice when people come out with their stories. Having said that, Mignogna isn’t some rich and powerful man, and he’s not particularly famous or political or anything... so I can’t think of any reason that a group of people would have for coming out and lying against him like that.
I want to think Vic is just used to women desiring him and that he overstepped his bounds without realizing that he was making those people uncomfortable. I’m going to have to read up on this some more.

Re: Vic Mignogna
I'm not saying you or anyone else can't of course. It's just her performance isn't one I've seen defended quite as often as I've seen other Ocean cast members, whereas I've seen tons posting in various places about missing Linda Young. It could just be a matter of time difference though - I wasn't a fan of the series at the time of the Ocean cast replacement, whereas I'd long been a fan by the time of Kai coming along, so I may have just been privy to more opinions of the latter than the former.MasenkoHA wrote:I preferred Newstone’s Freeza over Linda Young....Gyt Kaliba wrote:Was still Ocean, yeah, but you'd probably be hard pressed to find anyone that was any more fond of Pauline Newstone's Freeza than they were of Linda Young's (actually you'd probably have an easier time finding the latter overall).
