I think it looks better than the first trailer. But that shot of Gohan ssj just looks really bad too me. I will defenitley not be buying this set. I can't believe they think the after shots look better than their before. Such potential wasted.

I would only recommend this (assuming it releases in separate sets later) to fans who don't have the dragon boxes, the season blu-rays or Kai.

Yeah I have my dragon boxes and kai. At the very least its better than the season blu rays.

Wouldn't an untouched release be in SD quality ? As far as I know even the dragon boxes were cleaned up to a degree so even Japan never got an untouched release apart from what originally aired during the 80s and 90s.

I think they scanned the raw to HD instead?

Well what I meant was I found it helpful to know that the remaster team from the Level sets is all but not there anymore, as it explains a thing or two (and the consistency can be laid on important staff who are still there, like Gen perhaps).

I was more frustrated that you used my post as an excuse to take a cheap shot at the set. Which, I get, I understand, this whole situation has been frustrating, but in my opinion there was really no need to make THAT big of a stretch just to shoot the corpse one more time, metaphorically speaking.

I think it is about time we take it into our own hands and do a De-Remastered release. Anybody interested? I have broadcast audio and video for comparison and usage.

The way the Star Wars fandom De-Specialised the original trilogy has always impressed me.

How would you do that?? Throw grain back on it like it's an Orange Brick trailer?

Primarily through colour correcting the Dragon Boxes, but to be honest we have had a thread on here that has been attempting to do that for years.
I swear I hope they just release this untouched. They have admitted it is catered towards hardcore DBZ fans. Presumably the same target audience the Dragon Boxes were catered towards. Why are they not listening to our feedback? The fact that they made that blog post is proof they are reading what is being said.

If Funimation wants to maximize its profit the original scans would be best as they can capture the hardcore fans and casual when the add the faulconer score in addition to the Japanese audio.

I was actually thinking the same thing, that it at least looked better than what the first trailer seemed to show us.

Overall though...ehh. I just find it really hard to get that motivated about this release, and I think at the end of the day, it's a mix of the footage still not being as great as we'd hope, but also the price. $350 is a fair enough price for the entire series in one go, and far better than what I was expecting it to go for, but...well, I don't really need or want the art book. Or the figure. Or honestly even the packaging. I just need the show itself. On-disc extras would be nice, but beyond that, I'm good.

So if we actually were to get this version released again later in a more barebones manner, spread across nine "season sets" again (or seven sets like the Dragon Boxes), then yeah, I'd probably jump on it. But at the moment, just not enough going in favor of it to keep me interested.

Same here, i already have the Dragon Boxes for the most part so even if this does eventually get re released separately in stores later broken into individual releases i really don't have much interest in it seeing as i've already got what i personally consider to be by far the definitive way to watch the series.

Given the way the boxes are laid out in the Black Brick, I actually think if these were to be sold individually, they'd be in four "Arc Sets", with a Saiyan set, a Frieza set, a Cell set and a Buu set.
