Not really; that happened ages ago and ViZ is putting out a re-issue of the entire manga this year with no change in the translation.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but after purchasing the Spanish Saiyan Arc Full Colors, I feel like the color pages don't add anything significant for me. I prefer the OG black and white with the occasional color pages. That's just me though, not sure I'll continue picking up the Full Colors... That said, I think there's a market for this and it sucks for the people wanting to purchase it. :(

Well, I dunno much about how Spanish releases have been, but if I were a betting man, I'd guess they haven't struggled as much as far as getting uncensored releases. The thing is, as far as the English side of things is concerned, this is the most consistently uncensored version of the series we've gotten so far; the only thing they won't budge on is Popo's lips. Also, our releases tend to be on the lower side of quality. I mean, they had the gall to put the Kanzenban covers on the shitty 3-in-1s, with paper so thin the ink of a page would bleed through the other side. Not to mention falsely advertising it as uncensored.

So I can see why the colored pages would be a simple commodity for much of the rest of the world, while we English-speakers have long been salivating for a mostly-uncensored quality release.

For me the Full Colors add a lot more life and clarity to the already excellent artwork. Scenes of destruction in particular are much easier to read (as in, look at to see what's in the scene) than the B/W editions because all the lines means stuff inevitably gets lost. As well, they're the only release of the manga that I know of that is at the same size as the Shonen Jumps the manga was originally published in (excluding the Digest Edition).

These full colors are gorgeous but I already own all of Z in the initial volumes and in tankobon format. I just want full color of the first 16 volumes :silent:

I wish we could get a large-sized release with the original version. I don't like the idea of selling a colored version as the only 'prestige' version of a work not originally in color. Hell, the color's for the colored edition aren't even good!

I've not really read the full colour manga (too expensive for me when I've already got the whole series through Viz' tankobons), but I've never heard anyone criticize the colours used before. I'm legitimately curious to know why you feel they're not particularly good.

Right and I completely understand the appeal for it - It just reminds me too much of American comics (which I was never a huge fan of, so I'll admit I'm biased). It's purely a aesthetic preference on my part; I'm actually glad Dragon Ball fans have options when purchasing the original manga to the extent that we currently have.

For me it's a little like watching a shrunk version of the art. I've no idea what size Toriyama drew the manga (maybe VegettoEX or Ajay could divulge this?), but it's great knowing I've got a premium version of the manga at its original size. I feel the Tankobon are as small as they are for portability like reading on the bus; which is a great idea, but I don't read on buses I guess. The Kanzenban approaches the original size but it's a tad smaller for some reason!

TBH, colour or original, I don't really care. If I was given the choice, I'd probably just choose to stick to the original Toriyama drawings as they were, but Full Colour appears to have dropped almost all of Viz's typical visual censorship, so that strikes me as an immediate, large advantage.

It's a shame they didn't go with the uncensored dialogue too, but most of the censorship of either kind are in the pre-Raditz chapters anyway, so to really make a judgement on this release, we'll have to wait for the "Boyhood Arc", which should be here... Well... If the Cell arc begins publication next year, we should get Boyhood around 2025/2026, if the typical publishing speeds/gaps are any indication. Could be as late as 2030 if we get longer delays like we've had for Cell.

Bloody Shueisha need to get their act together. At this point, they've left it so long, I wouldn't be surprised if most everyone's lost interest and bought other releases of the manga, and simply won't bother with the really damn expensive Full Colour volumes of Cell, causing it to fail on release.
The point of Dragon Ball is to enjoy it. Never lose sight of that.

That's the boat I'm in. I'll buy the Full Colors when they come out (IF they come out), but I have decided I'll buy the manga boxsets of DB and DBZ later this year just so that I have a complete run. When I go through the Saiyan and Namek arcs though, I'll be reading the Full Colors for that.

This wouldn't even be half as upsetting is Shueisha even bothered letting it release DIGITALLY, NOOOOOOOOO, not in English!
