There are quite a few DB fans who are otakus. But, yeah the percentage is far less when compared to a big late night hit anime. Besides, DB makes it money through other means so its irrelevant. In fact, with the exception of Gintama and some vols.of Bleach, the vast majority of shounen series sell average to poor. And, it doesn't have any impact on them either.

Now, pre-2000s was a different time and different market. DB/Z/GT(GT sold the highest)as well as other popular classic shounen sold really really well. But, that time is over.

Those are some damn low sale numbers for Japan, whether Blu-rays or DVDs. One thing that potentially affects the sales are the expensive price tags and then the second is if there are enough customers still interested to buy them, some might have just gotten to a phase they're fine watching it on TV or not caring anymore about it.

Moving on, FUNimation also provides their products to Canada is it not? In that case, it's two countries against one though regardless of that, the popularity of Dragon Ball Super is huge and Jiren, Golden Freeza, Goku Black and the whole new Saiyan colored forms are fan-favorites.

Are those decent numbers for anime?

For an anime TV show that's airing on a niche network and has already gotten major exposure through its initial domestic broadcast, those are damn good numbers.

Bizzare this done better since Part 5 had the meat of the Trunks arc. Then again this set had the baseball epsiode!

Part 6 had Episode 66 (Vegetto Blue) and the infamous conclusion of the Future Trunks arc. Considering how much momentum had been built up by the arc by that point, there' no doubt in my mind people were clamouring to see how the arc would end.

Can't say I'm surprised those do have the filler like episodes, but the exhibition match episodes are enjoyable.

Also just letting you know the other parts for the American release like part 5 or part 4 and so do the others had one final change to the amount that we're actually sold but now they are finished.

Same for part 7 it's now at 23,000 sold total copies. Just felt like letting you know.

Hey it looks like dragon Ball super part 8 in total for both Blu-ray and DVD combined did around 33,580 sold copies.

Making a total of $1,014,237

I believe that's the highest it's ever been.

Normally I would agree but if you check the link for part 6 the amount of sold copies went to 29,000 sold copies. Instead of 33,369 sold copies.

You're right. Made a mistake in adding the numbers up. I'll change that.

OMG did you see the sales for part 8 the link says it sold over 50,000 copies in total. That's insane.

Part 9 sold 7,827 copies on DVD and 13,380 copies on Blu Ray in its first week on sale in America.

I also made some adjustments to previous figures as they've changed since I last posted here
