Rumor related question about Nozawa

Post by RecolorSaiyan » Sat Dec 07, 2019 2:26 pm

I remember a mod on the /r/dbz discord mentioning that back around 2011 or so, toei was trying to or planning on replacing Nozawa. Has anyone else heard this or know anything?

Considering nothing was really going on in 2011 for Dragon Ball I can’t imagine that’s legitimate.

I haven't heard of such a rumor and that sounds very unlikely. I've heard about a total recast, but this is also highly improbable at this point.

Do you have an ideas on who could replace her if they for some reason had too? Are there good nozawa sound alikes?

It's a shame, I feel like the boat has been totally missed for a recast. Kai would've been the perfect time to get fresh young talent behind the characters (give us time to warm to the voices, let them grow into the roles, then we can tackle new content with the re-cast), but we instead got half-assed performances by a half-consistent cast.

I can't imagine that we will see a full recast until the original comic is adapted into animation from scratch. Even then I imagine that it is going to be very hard to recast everyone since so many new actors are being added to the franchise with its new characters.

Kai probably should have been reanimated and cover from Goku meeting Bulma to Goku leaving with Oob. With a brand new cast and new score. Would have distinguished itself from Dragon Ball Z. Instead of being Rerun Ball Z with the fast forward button on

Weren't they in early prep for BoG at that time?

Funimation considered replacing Sean at one point, when he moved from Texas to New York many years ago. Sean however, solved Funimation's concern when he offered to pay for his own flights to Texas to continue voicing Goku. (then eventually later on, Funi started paying for his flights)

Never heard anything about Nozawa though.

I dunno, it really is difficult to imagine anyone else playing the Son family. However, I would be shocked if there isn't a shortlist of names to replace her, or even an understudy.

At this rate, the original cast will only be 100% replaced when they're all dead or retired.

How can you say Nozowa has been half assed?
