Not Dragon Ball related, but a big step in the right direction!
Why?
Because it's an Ocean Group anime dub we thought we'd never see. That, if for no other reason.
Was the hate for Kai largely unjustified?
Super Saiyan Prime wrote:It's an edited, cynically produced, cheap recut with a poorly utilized ancient score and awful scene recreations that later got traded in for a weird green tint.

The story of Kai's production is far more interesting than the actual product.

Has Ocean kai now become the rarest lost media of Dragonball?

Considering it was never released to begin with, yeah. It's just waiting on an external hard drive up there in Vancouver waiting to be uncovered. It has become the One Piece.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

No. It's not much a matter of it being lost as never being released. Now for English language stuff that was actually released but is lost... I'd say that dub of DB Movie 1 that was apparently shown on flights that we know nothing about. Second place would be the Animax dub of DB which... ummm.....

Third place would be the Fillipino English dub. While we don't have the show itself, we have the "Songs of a High Spirited Saga" soundtrack, the movie 5-6 dub (albeit in really bad quality that's just begging for a new transfer from vhs), the end credits for the movie 5-6 dub in decent quality, and the movie 10-11 dub (which might've been done by a different studio). Additionally, the Tagalog dub might've used the same cast as (one of) the Fillipino English dub(s).

May we come aboard and bring along all our hopes and dreams. Together may we find this dub we've been looking for. Till the next promising opportunity presents itself I guess
Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

I can't believe it, Canada's kai dub is the biggest piece of lost media of dragon ball history

Edit: i wanna know if its ok to be honored living in the same province as the dub it was recorded in

No, I think the very first English dub produced by Frontier Enterprises still remains the rarest.

Pretty sure it was only ever intended to be shown as in-flight entertainment on flights to and from Japan. I always did wonder how in-flight movies were stored. If the Frontier dub does exist, retrieving it is going to be a nightmare both in a technical and legal sense.

I don't imagine you happen to have any sample of it in your collection, do you?

While we're on the subject of collections, Kei, I read through that broadcast audio thread and I heard you have the broadcast audio for Dragon Ball, is that true? If so how many episodes do you have?

Most likely it doesn't exist anymore. None of Frontier's released anime dubs survive outside of copies.

Depending on how good or bad that dub is, it may be a blessing in disguise.

If it's bad, then no one needs to be bothered with that dub still being around.

If one of the obscure dubs surfaces, it'll be the Animax Asia dub.

... Honestly, I'm surprised the Animax DB dub hasn't surfaced in some form yet. You'd think at least one episode would've made it online by now. 153 episodes of a show like this, airing in like 2006?... It's quite surprising that we've seen nothing of it.

Aside from that one clip in that guy's voice reel of course.

The following may sound as the weirdest thing and probably the most stupid I've written on these forums so far: I think the dub may be there but people are searching it in the wrong way. Since Animax Asia aired in several countries and several languages, I can suppose someone recorded this rare English dub but didn't upload it in an English speaking site but in an Asian language speaking site.

It happened to me once when I was looking for this rare alternate Latin Spanish dub of Asterix & Obelix vs. Caesar and I eventually found it on a... RUSSIAN STREAMING SITE.

So yeah, looking for it in another Asian languages like Malay, Filipino or Indonesian might help.

Off-topic: Wow, how time flies for this thread. It started out when I was a 10 year old kid, I posted on it for the first time as a 16 year old teenager and now I'm quoting you as a 20 year old young adult.
