Normally I'd agree, but this is FUNimation  so while I wouldnt be suprised if they tinkered with it again, also wouldnt be suprised if they didnt
If they messed with it again I'd expect the'd have a video out withere with Chris Sabat in his deep trailer voice like, "We messed with it again and this time it's really definitive," or something.
Dragon Ball Z: The deFUNItive edition

"The fanbase is split but we've brought them together. Glorius HD master 33.3% of the image quality with full-grain. 33.3% of the image baby smooth and 33.3% of the image enhanced to widescreen aspect ratio Experience DBZ like you have before and like you haven't!"
"THIS is the fourth ultimate and definitive edition of Dragon Ball Z, remastered in 16:9 for a more cinematic viewing experience...but now with grain this time as our last three releases were lacking it"

Yeah, i could imagine another thing like that misleading Orange Brick trailer from 2007 being done.

DB collection related goals as of now:

1.) Find decent priced copy of Dragon Box Z Vol. 4 (Done)

2.) Collect rest of manga

3.) Get rest of Daizenshuu (2-7)

Well I say that being the owner of the big bad LOTR/Hobbit boxset, where they do literally just re-use the discs from the original Blu-Ray releases, plus the BTS DVDs for LOTR. The latter was also done because nearly all of it was shot on DV tape, so it was never in HD to begin with!

The Dragon Box Singles are very similar: it's the same core video files but with a vastly simplified menu.

Warner Bros. is the same. "Hey look, a new slip cover"

FUNi has changed something with ever relese weather it's color timing, DNR, title cards, etc. since the OB's which is why I wouldn't be surprised if something is different since these releases have almost become busy work at this point.

Because if I watch Dragon Ball Z, it's gonna be in English, and well, the English dub (sans UUC) is unwatchable until the Cell Games—I have a 1TB HDD containing all of Kai w/ the Faulconer score (footage ripped from my legally owned Kai Blu-rays  ) for that. So it would take a special kind of release to warrant me watching Z.
That's kind of where I stand at this point. I already have my collection of Dragon Ball on my PC, finely customized just the way I like it. Kai with Kikuchi score for the English dub and general viewing, and Z with the nice broadcast audio incase I need to refer back to it for something.

That said, if we ever saw a "Level Set 2 : Electric Boogaloo" with all 291 episodes, that could possibly be enough for me to drop Kai and just watch Z exclusively in Japanese.

No no. You have it all wrong. I know what Funi's next DBZ release will be. It'll come just in time for the 40th anniversary.

"Prepare to watch Dragon Ball Z as you've never seen before! For the 40th anniversary we're announcing the release of our new set, Dragon Ball Z : 4k HDR Super Deluxe Special Limited Edition, now in a stunning 21:9 aspect ratio for the most immersive viewing experience ever!!!"

Welp, those updated covers look like absolute crap. Will wait for the eventual standard editions.
Looking for the following Pioneer single:

Looking at those just reminds me how I am so freaking tired of the current state of Dragon Ball promo art. I can't even put my finger on what it is it's just all so...ugly.
Dragon Ball Arc Rankings: 1. Piccolo Daimaō 2. Saiyan 3. 22nd Budōkai 4. 23rd Budōkai 5. Hunt For the Dragon Balls 6. Zamasu 7. Moro 8. Tournament of Power 9. 21st Budōkai 10. Broly 11. Battle of Gods 12. Boo 13. U6 Tournament 14. Freeza 15. Red Ribbon Army 16. Artificial Humans/Cell 17.Golden Freeza
Kunzait_83 wrote:No matter what twisted pretzel logic you contort yourself into to try and convince yourself otherwise, Raditz landing on Earth is the middle of the fucking story. Zero context, zero setup. Its in NO way meant to be seen as a "beginning point" for ANYTHING other than the next story arc. It flows precisely and fluidly from where things left off in the aftermath of the 23rd Budokai and mostly hits the ground running from there without really stopping to look back. You're plopping someone into the middle of a book starting at chapter 195 out of 519 for absolutely no good goddamn reason, with very minimal opportunity to look back at much needed context and character/story growth.

Kinda has a Nickelodeon release vibe to it. It also reminds me a little of the Japanese Kai boxart

Yeah, it makes me think of the look you'd see in the late 2000's with games like Infinite World or Burst Limit

For some reason i'm still fighting the smallest part of my brain that has any hope or Funi taking this opportunity to do anything to make these steelbooks look any better than the original 30th Anniversary release. Perhaps it's the tiny fleeting sense of childhood naivete, still hopeful that things could get better, still kicking around.

Wow! Seasons 4 and 5 are being dropped only a month after Seasons 1-3! That's incredible and my wallet is gonna hate me for it!

I wonder if they'll do 6 and 7 in January then 8 and 9 in February?

Either way, it'll be nice to have an official 4:3 release on my shelves again even if it's no better than the Blue Bricks I have for DB.

Best Buy lists up to season 5 for $39.99 a pop. They don't list 6 and 7 yet, but I haven't yet snagged a pre-order for 4 and 5 yet, so I think I'll go get those on Best Buy.

I've never really understood the decision to use Piccolo for the early Buu arc. Yes I understand he has to show up SOMEWHERE, but he's not really relevant to that part of the story!

I'll add Goku on season 6 to that, as it should've been Gohan instead.

Agreed, that part of the story is Gohan's shining moment.
