Not worth it. I already gave a summary along with someone else here of the important stuff.

- Sanda wants to work on Dragon Ball in the future.
- Yapiko Animation asked him to work on Broly but it didn't happen in the end.
- Something new Dragon Ball-related is in production at the moment but he isn't allowed to say when it's coming neither if it's a movie or an anime series.
- At Toei Animation, they have the feeling that it's useless to hurry to do something Dragon Ball-related since Dragon Ball brings in tons of money without any series or movie.
- If he's asked to work on Dragon Ball in the future, he wants to draw and animate like Takahashi, with the 90's chara-designs.

That's pretty much it. Oh, and he can't say what he knows about Dragon Ball's return.

It would be pretty funny if the new movie is set in EOZ with a timeskip. Nobody would expect it but imagine seeing Trunks/Goten as adults with Pan and Oob on a movie poster.

Not only I know for a fact that he knows absolutely everything about what is happening with Dragon Ball's future because I talked to him many times in private, but more importantly: he said the exact opposite of what you're saying by confirming Masaki Sato's quotes where the latter said that he knows that Dragon Ball's gonna comeback but he doesn't know either it's a movie or an anime series.

Well, my wording was a bit unfortunate here. I'm gonna stop posting right after waking up. He referred to the Blu Ray with the info saying the movie has been talked about but he said he didn't know about if they're working on a series in addition to that.

Broly's opening weekend in Japan was a bit over 9.2 million dollars, the new Demon Slayer movie made 44 million within the same time period. That's absolutely insane. To show just how big that is, it did it during this Covid nightmare we're living in, so imagine how much higher it would've been during normal times ? If theaters were at 75% capacity, this could've made around 60 million if Covid didn't hit.

What does this have to do with DB ? this may play a role in Toei and the powers at be deciding to have DB continue as films instead of a weekly series. The DS movie wasn't even an original script, it adapted an arc in the manga, which is something DB could also do. I've always believed DB would return to TV eventually, but now I think there's a real possibility they could decide to have a new movie out every 2 years instead. If a DS movie that adapts a manga arc can be successful, why can't DB ?

Ehh I prefer the weekly speculations over the movie format, it's more surprising that way. It doesn't help that DB movies never air in my country and waiting for them online takes forever

I also think the Moro arc is too lengthy already to be adapted into movie, it would probably take two or three of them. A single DB movie is usually just 3 episodes.

Broly and BOG were the equivalent of 5 episodes, while RF was 4. DS movie is 2 hours long, which is enough for Moro if it were to be adapted. Moro also has a lot of slow moments that can be cut.

Tip: The films usually get uploaded pretty quickly to Pornhub, weirdly enough.

Also, my prediction is, new arc over the new year, movie announcement hopefully at jump festa, movie standalone, takes place between Moro and next arc. Anime comes back, adapts Broly, adapts Moro, adapts next movie, adapts next arc.

Seems like the most logical way of doing things to build up a large buffer.

I also think this is likely, but there's still a chance they cut out the anime entirely and focus on movies instead. If they can bring in even half the numbers DS is currently doing, wouldn't it make more sense financially to release a movie every 2 years instead of every 3-4 ? Broly's budget was around $8.5 million, which is more or less the budget of a 50 episode show, but the work is less and the profits are more.

This is plausible, especially with the current state of everything. I just think a series may be likely to push dragon ball into the limelight for a period, after a movie, the (postponed)olympics etc boil down, theres no new game hype, the manga has its audience, but eventually putting out a series in an early timeslot in the mainstream to attract a large scale new generation audience will be too tempting to Toei to stick to just movies.

Dragon Ball doesn't need the mainstream appeal that an anime would bring, but a DB anime is massively marketable and probably much easier and cheaper to get into a primetime slow than anything else, and kids watch those, more kids more money.

Demon Slayer shouldn't be used as example, because right now that series has became a social phenomenon in Japan. I never saw something like that. Manga series usually get more popular when they get an anime adaptation, because they start reaching a wider audience, but what happened to Demon Slayer popularity after episode 19 is not normal.

I never thought the incredible One Piece yearly manga sales would be beaten in japan, but Demon Slayer is doing it and just has one season animated and got now its first movie which is breaking every box office record over there.

I doubt whatever plans Shueisha/Toei have for Dragon Ball change because what Demon Slayer is doing, but if anything I hope it motivates them even more in giving us a good product. If Demon Slayer had gotten a bad anime, its popularity wouldn't have exploded like this.

Animation/Art quality wise, DBS Broly was a big step in the right direction. Now let's hope they keep walking that way with whatever they decide to do next.
A world without Dragon Ball is just meh.

I'm not expecting DB to be that successful, but I hope the powers at be realize that despite DB selling regardless of quality, it can sell far more with actual quality behind it. I definitely agree Broly production wise is taking things in the right direction, now hopefully the storytelling can follow as well.

They have most likely already realized how important Dragon Ball is, and that’s why they are taking so much time in preparing for the next big animated DB thing. I fully expect DB to return stronger than ever quality-wise.

Toei is showing with Dragon Quest how they can make a great weekly show when preparing correctly, and I am sure DB will get an even better treatment so we are in for some really high quality content in the future.

Toei has definitely been moving in the right direction with their various shows, so hopefully this applies to DB as well. I really hope we get some news at Jump Festa, even if it's not a direct announcement. I just want an idea about their plans for the future.

I have a hard time imagining the anime NOT returning. I mean, Dragon Ball is one of the most popular and successful franchises in the world, how can it not have an anime? Especially since the Super anime was actually quite popular, just look at the countless live reactions to the ToP episodes. I've always said it, "it's a matter of when, not if".

It didn't for 18 years straight, from 1997-2015. I don't believe we'll have to wait that long, but nothing's guaranteed.

Well that's why we call it a "Revival", No? Now that the producers have figured out there's still a huge interest for Dragon Ball, they won't suddenly ditch the anime.

Besides, the anime is what the vast majority of people will be exposed to, not the manga. How many casual Dragon Ball fans know about Moro, Merus, and basically this arc at all?

There was massive interest in the franchise from 2002-2008 thanks to the dragon boxes, Kanzenban, and video games, but we got nothing in the anime department.

I think we'll get one, just not as soon as some think.

I'd love to see data on that. Generally speaking, probably just the hardcore fans.
