First "Dragon Ball DS" Screens & Info

Post by LaRésistance » Mon May 19, 2008 6:25 pm

The lastest issue of V-Jump has two pages about a new DB RPG for the Nintendo DS : http://www.gamick.fr/2008/05/goku-retourne-e.html

It looks promising.

Looks good. Someone needs to translate the scan.

DragonBall DS is an action-adventure game from Namco-Bandai coming at an undetermined time in 2008? Correct or no?

The top says "MAKAFUSHIGI ADOBENCHAA!!"... and if you don't know what that means, you're hanging out on the wrong site :P.

Things I gleaned from the two scans (don't want to bother with a full translation): You use the stylus to move and attack. You attack enemies by touching them with the stylus. Close enemies you punch, while distant enemies you use the Nyoibo on.

The Kamehameha will be in the game, of course, and will also be activated with the stylus. Judging by the screenshot they have, it looks like each syllable of the name will appear on screen, and you'll fire the attack by tapping them.

There will be cutscenes (as you can see in the bottom of the second scan).

At the top of the first scan, it says "Makafushigi Adventure" in big blue character, but the game title just seems to be "Dragon Ball DS".

As you can pretty much tell just by looking at the screenshots, this will focus on the adventures of young Goku and Bulma at the start of Dragon Ball. It doesn't say how far into the story it will go, though.

Captian to screenshot of Bulma flashing Kame-sennin: "Bulma's terrible place is protected by using the space between the upper and lower screens"

...Right then...

A Dragonball game on the DS? I'm so there. Looking at the scans, stuff looks kinda... angular. Then again, it's a DS, so I guess I'm fine with that. Hopefully, it won't be a quiet "I didn't even know it was released" kind of release like the DB game on the Advance.

3D Gokuden? I wish, still looks very cool and I will pick it up if it comes to America.

Man does this look cute. X3

Some of the camera angles give me bad "Sonic Blast" vibes, but other than that it looks really nice.

I hope it does get exported somewhere (like that Best Buy that carried Jump SuperStars a while back).

Awesome. I freakin' love Dragonball based games.

I just noticed its 3D, It looks really nice.

That little pic of Bulma flashing Kame'sennin is hilarious, yet, I have a small fear. I really hope this game does not get censored or edited. I want the full experience.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't specify what I was talking about, If the game were to be released outside of JP. Knowing Atari, I'm sure it will.

I really can't wait till this comes out. Hopefully by some weird twist of fate America will get the Japanese voices as an option, because I don't feel like importing the Japanese version, especially since my reading of Kanji is subpar.

What does it mean?
It's the name of the Dragon Ball (non-Z, that is) anime's Japanese opening theme.

Makafushigi Adventure. Dragon Ball's first OP. FUNi even uses an english version of it.
To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

Can someone enlighten me on this? I'm guessing you don't mean "new" as in new colors for the DS Lite...?

Pretty sure it means something along the lines of "mystical" or "fantastic."
