Woohoo! More News About The New Dragonball Special!
This was just put up a few minutes ago an ANN's main page:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... d-in-japan
They've announced the full line-up now and mentioned this special will have an original concept by Toriyama.
The original source for the news is here if anyone is interested:

Jerseymilk: "Can I tell you something?"
B-kun: "What?"
Jerseymilk: "I see Fangirls."

So it won't be a total crap, and perhaps it won't be all about Goku like how Toei loves to do with DBZ specials and GT.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Is there any chance of us being able to see this? Is it being screened on TV, but only in certain areas, or screened on Theatres, or something of the like?
I'd really like to see this, but can't really afford to fly to Japan for it
Though, I wouldn't mind paying for a legal download, if one were available.

I love humans, always seeing patterns in things that aren't there.

I think originally it was thought to be OP and DB having a crossover special, but this obviously disproves that theory.
Which is odd cause all the ads I have been seeing for the past few weeks have had Luffy and Goku with each other and no separate ad for the two. (Same with Bleach and Gintama.)
Two specials is better than one though.
Hopefully FUNi will grab both. Worth mentioning to them at a convention because I would be dammed if Toei tells them anything.

E-mail Funimation
I really hope that Funimation dubs this and release it in America. Our best chances of getting that to happen are if we send civilized requests that voice our concerns. I think their e-mail and their forums are the best way to reach them.

I've sent them a nice little plead from my heart, also about Dragonball Z Gaiden, and included things like "The pirates are bootlegging them AS WE SPEEEEEEAK", though not said like that, and even indicated that there's a fandub by people imitating Funimation voices, under the name of Funnermation. That should make their monocles fall off of their faces! Bwahahaha!
I even put a Yours Sincerely, I NEVER do that in an Email, unless applying for a job.

An original concept by Toriyama is great news indeed. I'm hoping that it won't be a continuation to DBZ, or some lame backstory. I just want something that is fun and coherent, and non-canon.
I also wish FUNimation will get their hands on this eventually, but until then grabbing a fansub on the interwebs will be enough for me. Hell I'll even wait for a R2 DVD release.

The scan at muhyojo calls it a "new episode" with a "new story", so make of that what you will.SatoSky wrote:An original concept by Toriyama is great news indeed. I'm hoping that it won't be a continuation to DBZ, or some lame backstory.
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?

We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

^Would that mean this new animation could be limited to only 22 minutes in lenght?
I'd be all for some non-canon fun as long as Toriyama is involved. All the DBZ movies he's had a hand in were always really good, and the fact that this story is going to be done by him has me drooling.SatoSky wrote:An original concept by Toriyama is great news indeed.
