RIP Iizuka Shouzou

Post by JulieYBM » Tue Feb 28, 2023 9:20 am

Iizuka Shouzou, likely know to most Dragon Ball fans as Nappa from the 1989 Dragon Ball Z animated series, has passed away of acute heart failure at the age of 89.

Alway a unpleasant experience when a family member dies. I hope his family is doing well.

While 89 is pretty fulfilling age, it is still sad to see people go away :(

Damn, another legend lost, but 89 is a magnificent age. I'm sure Iizuka Shouzou must have had a wealth of memories, both good and bad, but most of all he gave us Nappa and #8. RIP.

While 89 is a good run, it's always sad to lose another person associated with the franchise, especially someone who played such a memorable villain. My thoughts are with his family and friends and I hope he rests in peace.

Wasn't he already replaced in GT and the video games?

I looked up the anime shows he has worked in in his career. Besides DBZ, I have watched a few other anime series he has done. I didn't know/realize he was Baraggan in Bleach until now. I think that is his best known character besides Nappa.

He was a natural at playing brutish characters, much like Takeshi Watabe, whom often played his rival.

May he rest in peace.
