Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 4 - Official Discussion Thread
On the pacing discussion:
I will say I think it's been a tad slow, assuming this is a 20-ish episode series as we've previously heard rumored.
Episode 1 was basically a double-episode (if you were to add eye catches and intro-outro credits, it'd have been close to the 46-minute mark of a double), and here we are on episode 4, which would presumably be almost a quarter of the way through, and we still don't feel like we're through the first act of a story.
If the show ends up being a bit longer than 20 episodes (30? 40?) then this pace is absolutely fine, and I absolutely DIG it. I'm good with a more relaxed pace and letting us just have some FUN in the Dragon World for a while...but if a more relaxed opening leads to RUSHING through things later on, because of episode count, it can be a problem.
So, it's fine unto itself, but may be a problem looking ahead.

In the manga it was mentioned that Dabura got sent to Heaven, we just don't see him at all. However we don't know how Dabura is like, when he wasn't possessed by Babidi.
Maybe the statue represent Dabura when he is himself. We know he isn't a evil king, like King Gomah who is abusing his power. He wants gold or life force.

We know that Dabura felt for Babidi's manipulation magic, which explicitly "controls individuals with evil in their hearts".super michael wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 3:14 pmIn the manga it was mentioned that Dabura got sent to Heaven, we just don't see him at all. Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

Yup. I doubt Gomah had time to put a collar in everyone in a few months. He wasn't a great guy.Neo-Makaiōshin wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 3:29 pmWe know that Dabura felt for Babidi's manipulation magic, which explicitly "controls individuals with evil in their hearts".super michael wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 3:14 pmIn the manga it was mentioned that Dabura got sent to Heaven, we just don't see him at all. Tbh I wouldn't expect anything less from the Great Demon King. Still, it seems that he's at least less evil and oppressive as Gomah.

We don't know the extent of Babidi's magic. Vegeta succumbed to it and he wasn't entirely "evil" by that point. We don't know if he can only target evil or morally dubious people, or even good people with evil thoughts or feelings like greed and such. Akkuman in DB said his magic worked on anyone with a spec of evil in their heart, maybe Babidi is the same.Neo-Makaiōshin wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 3:29 pmWe know that Dabura felt for Babidi's manipulation magic, which explicitly "controls individuals with evil in their hearts".super michael wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 3:14 pmIn the manga it was mentioned that Dabura got sent to Heaven, we just don't see him at all. I think it would be interesting if Dabra was actually somewhat benevolent and kind, at least as a king, maybe not personally, but Babidi's magic is just that powerful that he can take over anyone as long as they're selfish, arrogant, greedy etc.

Didn't King Yama say he sent Dubura to heaven because he was such a bad guy he would have enjoyed hell?

So episode 5 of Daima confirmed that Dubura was a very bad guy but Gomah is worse.
