Why did Vegeta go to Yardrat?
I was reading the Moro arc and felt this comes off as an abrupt and random choice. He didn't even remember the Ginyu were there until he arrived on the planet. Instant Transmission wasn't a very prominent move in the Moro fight prior and Yardrat wasn't mentioned.
Re: Why did Vegeta go to Yardrat?
I think it was a last ditched effort move of Vegeta's since his usual strategy of punch and ki blast thing was proving to be ineffective against Moro who could suck the energy out of people. He knew the Yardrat people had weird techniques so he was probably hoping they had anything for him.
Yardrat would be the kind of planet he'd likely forget about easily in normal circumstances but since Goku kept using one of their techniques all the time I'm sure that's the reason Vegeta bothered to remember it out of the blue.

Re: Why did Vegeta go to Yardrat?
I think something like this is probably the best answer to OP (without going 'meta' for an explanation).
To expand on this line of thought slightly, Vegeta voices his frustrations about how strength isn't enough to counter Moro's strange techniques most forcefully, and decides to part ways with Goku precisely at the moment when, Goku is trying to get them to escape together by using a Yardrat technique. Seen from that perspective, it seems more natural that Vegeta might decide to look to a species who he knows aren't about power but instead are about strange techniques for his answer, in that moment.
