Re: DBZ Kai 1-4 in movie theaters in Spain on 20th of June
Have any European Kai dubs been based on Funimation's dub yet? I don't recall there being a precedent for this yet, at least not for the legal dubs (illegal dubs like those from Albania and the Middle East are more likely to use Funimation's dub, although I'm not aware of any illegal Kai dubs).
It seems since Kai a lot more licensed dubs have been based on the Japanese version with TOEI gaining more control where other companies like AB Groupe used to have more say with the Latin American administration seemingly being somewhat of an anomaly for the time.

If I recall correctly, the French and German Kai scripts were not based off the Funimation scripts. I can't really speak for any of the other European dubs though.

That's the Latin American dub of Z.sangofe wrote: Wed Jun 26, 2024 4:16 am Comparison Lat am dub of Kai with this new Spanish dub:

I guess this guy was afraid that maybe the Spanish dub of Kai would win the comparison and replaced Kai's dub with Z's. In general, however, this comparison is not totally fair because he compares something that was dubbed in 1997 to something that was dubbed in 2024.

Right. Anywho, I guess it shows the Spanish spain dub isn't based on the FUNimation script?TheRed259 wrote: Wed Jun 26, 2024 7:41 amThat's the Latin American dub of Z.sangofe wrote: Wed Jun 26, 2024 4:16 am Comparison Lat am dub of Kai with this new Spanish dub:

Thing is, the same guy did this much more 1:1 comparison.
edit: and DBZ Castilian vs Kai Castilian, for good measure.

To be fair I think they did it with Z at first because Lat Am Z Kai has censorsip that makes it not match with the Uncut version.
Re: DBZ Kai 1-4 in movie theaters in Spain on 20th of June
I'm interested in the dubbing script, is it based off the Funimation script or not?

Good news for anyone who missed this, but this Friday (July 5th) the first 4 episodes and the fifth (which will be the debut in this new dub) will be available on the streaming platform Anime Box with new episodes being releases daily from Monday-Friday the following week.
Home release to follow between October and December.Antonio Sanchez-Migallon wrote:

¡Kai, Kai!

Wonder if the Catalan dub of Super will follow this Final Chapters dub? It was announced last June but I've never heard any more on that.Tian wrote: Wed Mar 19, 2025 3:52 pm The European Spanish dub of Final Chapters will finally premiere on March 24th and episodes will also be available in Catalan and Galician. Probably unlikely because that dub is coming to the 3Cat and SX3 streaming platforms.
Either way, it's great to see more Kai dubs being started and completed.

Catalan dub of Super is on the making since a month ago. I'm not sure when they are planning to air it, but there's a YouTube channel which gives it a lot of coverage speaking with Marc Zanni (dub director and Goku's voice) as it goes on: https://www.youtube.com/@lanitfrikiDragon Ball Ireland wrote: Fri Mar 21, 2025 9:22 amWonder if the Catalan dub of Super will follow this Final Chapters dub? There's also a Basque dub of Super on the making, which is being done in a much more quiet way in comparison. But in that case, there's a planned air date already: September 2025.
