To understand that, it's better to look less to Glorio himself and more to Daima's worldbuilding.

The Third Demon World (and really, the Demon Realm in general) is a monumentally fucked up place. Between the crazy environmental hazards everywhere you look, lawlessness abounding in every town, and everyone being forced to wear collars while they're treated as little more than slaves by the governance, etc., it's easy to see why any person living in those circumstances would be eternally grateful to someone with the authority and power to move them out of that life and into a better one.

That he was so indebted to Arinsu is something I was actually able to glean from Episode 6, which is the first one to seriously delve into Glorio as a character and dynamic member of the group. Episode 19 is just a bit more straightforward about it.

I do find it interesting that everyone has a slightly different take and interpretation of his arc. He's a very understated kind of character and I really do feel at least some percentage of the audience might benefit from just taking in Daima's smaller details if they ever care to rewatch the series. I think Zephyr and I are probably the most aligned of everyone here, even if we ultimately differ on whether it landed for us personally.

I did say Glorio was gonna pull a Giru since Episode 2, so um...
Whether you call that me predicting stuff given Daima's own content or just me comparing it to GT, take it as you will.
Not you, dbs fanboy, "the guy above [me]".
I totally predicted it on my watch tho, it was pretty obvious and all the little details does not change the fact it wasn't enough imo.
I really miss ma boy, Black :(

I think we're getting mixed up here.

I said that Glorio's arc was not so subtle that one should need a rewatch in order to notice it being gradually setup. His growing bond with the group and his reactions after the phone calls with Arinsu were painting a pretty clear picture. Mr Baggins seemed to be saying that, actually, it is that subtle, because you, for example, didn't notice the face-turn. I understood him to be commenting on you recognizing Glorio's turn, but not because it was being setup by the show's actual writing. So, I said "I guess not", agreeing with him that you did not "recognize a face-turn" in the writing itself.

If Baggins was meaning something else, then that's for him to clear up. That you predicted it isn't in question, but rather why one may have been able to predict it. I can't say that knowledge of the trope didn't help inform my expectations (I do, after all, know that it is common for DB antagonists to change sides), but I still think the writing did sufficient heavy lifting. What the writing didn't do was to make me really care about why this was such a dilemma for Glorio in the first place, because it didn't clue anybody in as to why until after the thing was resolved anyway. Unsatisfying stuff.
