SS2 Goten and Trunks in GT

Were Goten and Trunks both able to go Super Saiyan 2 in Dragon Ball GT? I think I remember reading somewhere that they were able to, but I just wanna ask you guys because I'm not too sure about it.


Oh, and please no one give me the "ITS GT LOLZ" answer because that's not helpful at all and just plain annoying.

They were on SSJ level. Only Goku made progress in GT, with SSJ4 (and Vegeta right after). Gohan got surpress in power instead.

Neither Goten nor Trunks is ever officially designated to have reached SSJ2, either in resource materials or the GT series itself.

I think that's where the rumour came from and as you said it's probably another Toei inconsistency.


It's like saying that Goku Jr. was SS2, but he obviously wasn't.

I remember reading an article once which was an interview with supposedly one of the producers of the show and he was asked if Goten and Trunks reached Super Saiyan 2 through Baby's influence since Goten exhibited pink electricity in a few scenes and Trunks was basically a very severe lightning storm. The guy said that everyone is able to go SSJ2 by the end of GT.

On the contrary, however, I believe somebody here posted an excerpt from the DBGT Perfect Files which only listed Goten and Trunks as SSJ without access to SSJ2.

My 2 cents? I don't think they could go SSJ2. I think the electricity was just Toei being inconsistent with it as usual, but again, that's just what I think. I'm open to the possibility that I could be wrong and they are, in fact, official SSJ2s.

Yeah, it's in the first Perfect Files volume, which does mean it doesn't cover anything past the Baby arc (ie only Goku is listed as SSJ4, and not Vegeta or Gogeta).

Not damn likely. We see Goku's hair shift to SS2-style at one point while fighting General Rildo and they still forgot to add the lightning.

I couldn't tell you. I found that eons ago when I was a teenager and Dragon Ball info sites were a dime a dozen waaaaaaay back in the late 90's early 2000's.

It'd been years since his childhood, we didn't even see him much at the end of the manga (even then, he had a date cancelled for the Tenka-Ichi Budokai didn't he?). Goten went from being a child, to being a man. People change, Goku didn't because he's a retard with no sophistication, but Goten did.
