Daizenshuu 7: Item Dictionary

Post by Herms » Thu Apr 15, 2010 8:27 pm

----Notice:This old thread is part of my series of guides. To avoid necro-posting, please post any comments you have in the sticky thread for my guides, rather than here. Thanks!----

This is a translation of the item dictionary from Daizenshuu 7, which includes everything from food to vehicles. I actually finished this up about 2 months ago, and the plan was to wait for Hujio set up the necessary pages and images so that it could be added to our translations section over at Kanzentai. However, we’re both going to be going on a bit of a hiatus for awhile, and at any rate the Daizenshuu 7 technique dictionary is the thing we’re planning on putting up next. So I figured it’d be better to post this dictionary up here to celebrate my 5,000th post rather than just have it sit on my computer for a few more months. And this way people can point out typos or other mistakes before the finished version goes up on the site.

Like always, I’ve rearranged the entries into English alphabetical order. The index for this dictionary (which has not been alphabetized) is here. For more Daizenshuu 7 stuff, the character dictionary is already up on Kanzentai, while I’ve previously posted my rough draft translations of the technique dictionary and places dictionary up on the forum. I’ve also posted the technique dictionary’s index, which lists what techniques each character uses.

Anyway, without further ado:

It’s also equipped with the ability to become a capsule. It takes 8 months for its energy to fill up, so it cannot be used frequently. Because there wasn’t sufficient equipment, only one time machine was produced. (Daizenshuu 4, p.141)

Bunny Clothes

Special Characteristics: Very perverted Western clothing that Oolong likes. The set includes rabbit ears and tail, a butterfly necktie, cuffs, fishnet stockings, and stiletto heels. From this style, it could be a called a variation model of the Capsule No.9 bike. It’s differentiated from the No.9 by such things as the combined headlight-blinkers and the 4 mufflers. Though it’s among the highest performing models out of all bike which run on tires, it’s shown to be slower than Kinto-un.

Capsule Bike No.67

Category: vehicle
Manufacturer: Capsule Corporation
Explanation: An air bike which Bulma uses to commute to school. She returned to her house on this when Goku first came to West City.
Special Characteristics: A tireless air bike. It can move at considerably high altitudes, so much so that it could more accurately be called a flying bike. The peddles are moveable, and their position can be freely changed by moving one’s toes. It’s scooter-like in that its style has more volume on the bottom portion, but the forward-leaning riding position is sporty. Also, it places importance on aerodynamics by having the rearview mirror be one with the cowl, so perhaps it’s really a high-performance sports machine. (Daizenshuu 4, p.132)

Capsule Boat No.8
First Appearance: chapter 6
Category: vehicle
Manufacturer: Capsule Corporation

Special Characteristics: From the vertical and horizontal stabilizers and the flaps that accompany them, you can tell at a glance that it’s a plane equipped with an anti-gravity system. It’s equipped with 2 large jet engines which it gets its propulsive force from, and with them is capable of flying at super fast speeds. With its headlights and extremely short main wings, its style is somehow more like an air car than a plane. It’s a machine whose large canopy provides a good field of vision.

Capsule Plane No.115
First Appearance: chapter 23
Category: vehicle
Manufacturer: Capsule Corporation
Explanation: A capsule plane owned by Yamcha. Bulma and co. took it to West City.

Special Characteristics: A plane for transporting a light amount of goods at low speeds. It feels like a flying station wagon. It’s distinguished by the anti-gravity devices on each wing, which are used to change its course. For instance, to swing to the right, one should face the left wing to the back, and the right wing to the front. This is the same principle behind how a caterpillar car rotates.

Capsule Plane No.239
First Appearance: chapter 152
Category: vehicle
Manufacturer: Capsule Corporation
Explanation: An anti-gravity plane owned by Tenshinhan. He rode in it when heading to Piccolo Daimao, who had seized control of King Castle.
Special Characteristics: A stereotypical anti-gravity plane with no vertical or horizontal stabilizers, or flaps on the main wing. Ascent, descent, and rotating are all done with anti-gravity devices. Machineguns are equipped to the base of each wing, but fundamentally it’s for transportation and not battle, and is used like a car. It’s a 3-seater, with one seat in front and two in the back. The front seat is the pilot’s seat, while the ones in back are navigation seats. (Daizenshuu 4, p.137)

Capsule Plane No.240
First Appearance: chapter 158
Category: vehicle
Manufacturer: Capsule Corporation
Explanation: An anti-gravity plane piloted by Yamcha. He used it when heading to reach Tenshinhan, who was in the middle of his battle with Piccolo Daimao. Bulma and Lunch rode with him.
Special Characteristics: A stereotypic anti-gravity plane with an egg-shaped body to lessen wind resistance, with wings attached. It’s a minor variation on the Capsule No.239 plane, and it seems that their basic capabilities are practically the same. It’s differentiated from the No.239 by the shape of the canopy and ducts, and by the caliber of the machineguns at the base of the wings. Its canopy has a sharper shape, while the No.239 seems to have better interior comfort. (Daizenshuu 4, p.137)

Category: vehicle
Manufacturer: Capsule Corporation
Explanation: This was used when transporting the Namekians to Bulma’s house after they took refuge on Earth.

Special Characteristics: A large freight plane which flies through a combination of anti-gravity devices and jet engine. Naturally it’s not equipped with any weapons. It can be quickly changed into a large passenger plane if seats are added to its wide cargo bay. It’s one useful vehicle. Its style is somewhat suggestive of a helicopter, but its round, standalone cockpit also gives an insect-like feel to it. This plane is actually based on a 100 yen lighter motif, as are the Red Ribbon small fighter plane and various others. (Daizenshuu 4, p.135)

Capsule Plane No.991
First Appearance: chapter 370
Category: vehicle
Manufacturer: Capsule Corporation

Special Characteristics: It floats through the 2 anti-gravity devices on the bottom, and is propelled by the large anti-gravity device and jet engine and its back. The ducts on the bottom seem to be for the anti-gravity devices’ cooling. By using anti-gravity devices and a jet engine together, it is capable of flying at considerable speeds.

Special Characteristics: A bazooka cannon which fires one shot at a time, and isn’t equipped with rapid-fire capabilities. Because it has such powerful force, to be safe the person firing it must hold it over their shoulder with both hands. Its main distinguishing characteristic as far as capabilities go is that it’s equipped with a blast-protection shield. This shield is installed with an advanced sight sensor, which is capable not only of aiming, but can also indicate the speed of a moving object. (Daizenshuu 4, p.156)

Capsules capable of storing large objects are more expensive, and the capsule itself is also slightly larger. Doctor Brief founded Capsule Corporation to take the chance to develop this invention. Its one weakness is that it cannot fly any higher than Karin Tower. Karin’s Kinto-un is gigantic, and is approximately 10 times as large as the top of Karin Tower. Its style is that of an elliptical body with handle posts installed on each side, so perhaps it’d be more appropriate to call it a scooter rather than a car. They were used when treating Vegeta after he was seriously injured on Earth, or Goku when he got worn ragged on Planet Namek.
Special Characteristics: It’s capable of almost completely healing any injury in a short period of time. The patient is put inside a capsule-shaped machine, then treatment liquid is pumped in and the patient is sent oxygen through a mask. Also, the suction pads attached to the head and body function by sending out a special electric wave that heals the injured body. There are old models and new models, but they differ only in recovery time, and have the same overall effectiveness. As an extreme example, they are capable of even fully regenerating a blinded eye, but it seems they are unable to regenerate scars that have already healed, or boney appendages such as a Saiyan’s tail. In addition, while they can fully recover stamina lost through fatigue, they don’t heal a lack of sleep. (Daizenshuu 4, p.156)

Micro Band
First Appearance: chapter 69
Category: miscellaneous
Manufacturer: Bulma
Explanation: While the Hoi-Poi Capsules make various items small and store them away, this is an item that makes a human small. Since Bulma was saddled with the sin of being too beautiful, and therefore unable to ride the Kinto-un, she used this item to make herself small and stay in Goku’s pocket. However, she later handed it over to Kame-sennin, who immediately put it to perverted uses…
Special Characteristics: It’s usually worn on the wrist like a wristwatch. By operating its switches, the body of the wearer (that is, whoever has it on their person) is immediately shrunk down to about 15 cm. Besides floating, it’s also equipped with the ability to teleport to the desired location. Its range is such that it’s capable of going anywhere so long as it’s on Earth. Although the development of anti-gravity devices has made flying vehicles commonplace, vehicles capable of flying without these devices are rare. One point of interest is that the carpet’s Arabian-style design matches Popo’s clothing. (Daizenshuu 4, p.144)

Mister Satan’s Car
First Appearance: chapter 394
Category: vehicle
Explanation: The car which Mister Satan drove out to the Cell Games grounds in.

Special Characteristics: These Namekian ones are the original dragonballs. They’re 10 times as large as the Earth dragonballs. Accordingly, they cause the dream god Porunga to appear, a being far larger than Shenlong. They grant 3 wishes, and after the wishes are granted they revive after 130 days. The time it takes them to revive can become even shorter depending on the number of wishes granted. The dragonballs were originally created by the Dragon Clan of Planet Namek, and among them only the Eldest was permitted to make them. The dragonballs which appeared on Earth are a strange twist of fate. (Daizenshuu 4, p.31)

Namekian Spaceship
First Appearance: chapter 244
Category: vehicle
Explanation: The spaceship which God rode to Earth on when he was young, in order to escape from the disaster on Planet Namek.
Special Characteristics: Its capabilities are far greater than even the newest spaceships built on Earth. For instance, while it would take a spaceship developed by Doctor Brief over 4,000 years to reach Planet Namek, with this spaceship one can reach there in about 1 month. It can instantly move through distances equal to that between the Earth and Jupiter. The method of piloting it is exceedingly simple, and it’s OK to simply input the destination by voice. Originally this voice input had to be in Namekian, but Bulma converted it so that it could also be input with the language of Earth. (Daizenshuu 4, p.142)
Anime: Gohan and co. headed to Planet Namek on the spaceship God used. It had a rough voyage, being captured by the mirror-lined spaceship and landing on the Fake Planet Namek.

Special Characteristics: An item that converts battle power into numerical figures. These newest models have been designed to greatly increase their analytic abilities so that even when sensing a battle power of about 180,000, they are still capable of easily measuring it. Their other main characteristic is that their design has been substantially changed, so that they have a sharper design and are much thinner than before. Perhaps these are steps undertaken to lessen the resistance when fighting and flying. (Daizenshuu 4, p.154)

New-Model Scouter
First Appearance: chapter 247
Category: battle item
Explanation: An item which Freeza and his men are equipped with. Dodoria used it during the battle on Planet Namek.
Special Characteristics: As you probably already know, this is a battle power analysis device. It’s installed with a system for converting an enemy’s battle power into numerical figures, and it’s even capable of calculating the battle powers of distant opponents. The amazing thing about this item is that in the case of distant enemies, it can calculate the distance to them. Though this new model doesn’t look any different, it’s been powered up so that it’s capable of sensing battle power over 22,000. However, just like always, it will explode if it catches a battle power above its analytic capabilities. (Daizenshuu 4, p.154)

No.14, No.15’s Computer Chips and Power Generators
Category: miscellaneous
Manufacturer: Doctor Gero
Explanation: In “Extreme Battle!!~”, Artificial Human No.13 absorbed the chips and power generators from the destroyed No.14 and No.15. He then became the transformed No.13, achieving a super power-up. (Daizenshuu 6, p.96)

Nyoibo
First Appearance: chapter 1
Category: battle item
Explanation: A mystical staff which Goku inherited from his adopted grandfather Son Gohan. He always carries it on his back when going outside.
Special Characteristics: A mystical staff which freely expands and contracts when ordered. Because of this, it allows one to attack distant things without moving. However, originally it was not a weapon, but rather an item for going to God’s temple, located in the air above Karin Tower. The method of going there is simply to insert it on top of the roof of Karin Tower and have it extend. If the qualified person does not take a bell with them at this time, even if they’re able to reach the temple they cannot meet with God. As it happens, Kame-sennin borrowed the Nyoibo from Karin long ago, and after going from one person to another, it was finally passed on to Goku. (Daizenshuu 4, p.162)

O
Old-Model Scouter
First Appearance: chapter 195
Category: battle item
Explanation: An item used by Freeza and his men which analyzes battle power. The Saiyan warriors such as Raditz, Vegeta, and Nappa also used them.
Special Characteristics: An item which converts the opponent’s battle power into numerical figures. The battle power is displayed on a screen over the left eye. It can also perceive the battle powers of distant enemies, and in this case will also display the distance to the enemy as well. This scouter is an old model with inferior analytic power, and will explode when it senses a battle power whose number is above 22,000. To prepare for the appearance of powerful enemies, a conversion over to new models with increased analytic power is underway. (Daizenshuu 4, p.154)
Anime: In DBZ episode 20, it is revealed that this machine was invented by the Tsufuru. It seems that after the annihilation of the Tsufuru, Freeza’s army improved upon it and began using it.

Old-Style Fighting Jacket 1
First Appearance: chapter 307
Category: battle item
Explanation: An old-style battle protector worn by Freeza and his men. Bardock was equipped with one when Freeza attacked Planet Vegeta.
Special Characteristics: It uses a special rubber, and so is outstandingly light-weight and elastic.

Old-Style Fighting Jacket 2
First Appearance: chapter 287
Explanation: An old type of special protector worn by Freeza and his men. Vegeta had to wear one when there were no new models that fit him.
Special Characteristics: Protective gear which greatly diminishes the damage one receives in battle. Though at first glance it looks hard like armor, it’s made from a special rubber and is soft enough to be worn like regular clothes. It even won’t break if a Saiyan transforms into an Oozaru. Furthermore, because it is made very lightweight, the strain when fighting is greatly reduced. Also, the gloves and boots worn with it are made from this special rubber as well. Because this old type doesn’t have shoulder protectors, its defensive power is inferior to the new models. (Daizenshuu 4, p.157)

One-Wheel Bike
First Appearance: chapter 26
Category: vehicle
Explanation: The bike which Lunch-san was riding when she first met Goku and Krillin. She used it while evading the police.
Special Characteristics: Though bikes usually have two wheels, this machine has one wheel to control its steering and driving force. The bar on the front with a shock absorber is to prevent it from falling over, a piece of equipment needed for this unsteady-seeming monocycle. Its style is slow for some reason, since the steering shaft extends in a straight line from the handle to the tire under the seat. The nuance is that this machine is not for those seeking the utmost in speed, but more towards commuter types who’d use it to do a little shopping. (Daizenshuu 4, p.132)

Oolong’s House Wagon
First Appearance: chapter 9
Category: vehicle
Explanation: The contents of the capsule which Oolong owned. Goku and co. spend a night inside this car.
Special Characteristics: A large-model camping car. It’s a luxurious model equipped with a bath, kitchen, bathroom, and bedrooms. (Daizenshuu 4, p.128)[/b]

Category: battle item
Explanation: A weapon which Yamcha used back when he was a bandit to attack those who crossed his path. It severely damaged the house wagon which Goku and co. were riding in.

While wearing it, Gohan calls himself the “Great Saiyaman” and really gets into it, but besides looking like a weird cosplayer, Videl quickly sees through his disguise anyway. Well, everything manga/anime wise. There are still things featuring in video games only.
Oh, you think the Grand Tour is your ally, you merely stepped into the Grand Tour. I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn’t see the Super until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but blinding!

In addition, while they can fully recover stamina lost through fatigue, they don’t heal a lack of sleep.
Ha! I knew it. That all but confirms the power nap, then.

Also, typo alert:

Under "Mister Satan's 45," "whoever" should be "however."

No for example, Trunks' sword in Super DBZ, Freeza's rocket launcher, etc.

There aren't that many unique items from the Video Games and they're not canon anyway.

We've been working on a lot of the Daizenshuu 7 stuff for about a year now. Not to mention the rest of the daizenshuu. There's a lot of stuff going on that's not up, and maybe never will be. Who knows. There's only so much two people can do.

And just for the record, and I know this only applies to maybe one person... but we post these things on the forums as a measure of quality control. This is by far not the final product. We do this to eliminate any errors we may have made, along with correcting any phrasing issues there may be. So, I really don't suggest straight-up copying anything we post here, since it isn't even ready for Kanzentai yet. In fact, I'd really prefer no one straight-up copies the final version from the site either, but I realize some of us must take credit for other people's hard work.

I hate to do this, but you've been constantly corrected on the forum and in PMs... if you're planning on typing like this in the wiki, please don't. It's not acceptable here, and it certainly won't be over there.

Thanks for the gigantic quality control posts, Hujio & Herms :).
