Re: DragonBall Z Kai TV Network Version (CW4Kids\Toonzai) Edits!
Man, I didn't even remember that. I thought Saban cut that out entirely. I thought I even recalled seeing it on sites like Dragon Ball Z Uncensored as a deleted scene and was surprised that Goku almost drank beer... Was this something that was only shown on the first runs or something? I guess I am just misremembering that scene...Zep wrote:I dunno, is this really something we want to go back to:Metalwario64 wrote:Just like how Nicktoons (and Saban) edited the beer that Goku wasn't going to drink. That would have been a good opportunity to be an "anti-alcohol" message, and instead Nicktoons edited it into a nice cold can of nothing, and Saban deleted it entirely.Blue wrote:I was always baffled by Saban's edit of that scene. Not only were they totally cool with a farmer shooting a regular gun, someone catching the bullet and tossing it back at him at full force but on top of that he lives and basically says "ow, that kind of hurt". Is that just me or does this seem like a worse message then "if a bullet hits you at full force you die"?

But yeah, as Daimaoh said, they at least showed the beer, as opposed to making it a nice, cold can of nothing, which is actually pointless, as Goku doesn't drink the beer anyway, and even states it's no good, which makes it a counterproductive censor.
Actually, they just erased the "Beer" text, and replaced it with nothing, making it a nice, cold can of nothing in the process.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote: At least they showed the beer, instead of editing the can to say "milk".

That's basically what he says in the Japanese version too.Zep wrote: I dunno, is this really something we want to go back to:

I'm sorry Raditz, what do you want Goku to stack on the beach again?
A Dragon Ball/Urusei Yatsura crossover would be awesome.
Having Toshio Furukawa balance between Piccolo and Ataru would be hilarious.

I missed todays episode. Did they edit Raditz's line about staking the bodies on the beach? Based on the post before mine, I'm guessing they did...? What did he say instead?

No. It was there. Nothing was edited in this episode.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:I missed todays episode. Did they edit Raditz's line about staking the bodies on the beach? Based on the post before mine, I'm guessing they did...? What did he say instead?

No, it was changed to "Stack them here on the beach" leaving out the mention of bodies. Just a minor dialouge change that I felt like pointing out because frankly, there's was not a lot to make fun of. 4Kids (or whoever makes the decisions) is letting a lot of stuff slide surprisingly.gmster wrote:No. It was there. Well other than the farmer getting killed, I don't think too much entirely objectionable material has appeared.
We'll have to wait until Nappa and Vegeta arrive before we have to worry about any mentions of evacuations or parachutes.

Farmer never died in any version, save manga.

You guys get far too angry over edited episodes of a series that majority of you own uncut on DVD/Blu-Ray. If I was a kid I'm guess I would have thought two things (either Raditz was using his energy to make the bullet glow or it was a strange colored bullet) or more than likely I wouldn't have thought much of it at all. Seriously guys, complain if they do this to the home releases not on TV networks that are aiming for kids.

The word "die" is left in, which is a first for 4kids/CW.

Funny you should say that, as I have watched the whole 2K3 series.Super Sonic wrote:Never watched TMNT did you?

I noticed they cut out the part where Vegeta socks Goku right in the face during the opening intro. LAME.

The CW's BS&P doesn't allow punches to the face.
Any fight you see in the Nicktoons version that has an onscreen punch to the face will be edited by The CW.

The Vegeta VS Kid Boo fight! But the Goku VS Vegeta fight should be good for example.Budogenkai wrote:I wonder if anyone has ever counted which fight in the series has the most punches..The Tori-bot wrote:Oh, this will be fun.gmster wrote:The CW's BS&P doesn't allow punches to the face.

Perhaps they should stick to US cartoons that have those but don't show it bluntly which it looks cool in, but looks bad when they try to edit an anime to be like that.gmster wrote:The CW's BS&P doesn't allow punches to the face.

I don't think 4kids would license the broadcast rights for Kai unless they knew that they would get good ratings.
They've stated many a time that they are on the road to bankruptcy, and regular cartoons just don't seem to be cutting it for them.
