Soft spot for minor/short screentime characters?

Post by Piccolo Daimao » Mon Jan 17, 2011 3:39 pm

What minor characters or ones with short screentime do you have a soft spot for?

I've always liked Cymbal. He's my favourite of Piccolo Daimao's underlings, and I like his dragon-resembling design and his electric waves. Plus, I've always felt a bit sorry for him that he was killed only a few hours after his birth.

King Chappa. I like to think he's a distant relative to Mr. Satan somehow.

I think Tom Dubois of "The Boondocks" said it best for me when FUNimation announced the release of the domestic Dragonbox, after buying all of the Season Sets: "MOTHERFUCK!!! SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT, PRICKS, SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIIIIIIIT!"

Guess he's probably a bit more major than most of the characters listed so far, but all my love goes to Raditz.
(Okay, not all of it, because there are other minor characters I have a soft spot for as well, but the for me personally his love received:screentime received ratio is off the charts so I figured it was worth mentioning. Plus, I mean, it's gotta be mere hours between him showing up and him dying, right?)

Also, yeah, Nam.

My favorite underutilized character is Tien. The guy is seriously badass, I fist pumped hard when he held off Semi-Perfect Cell. I also like Krillin (Namek aside), Yamcha, Yajirobe, Tenkaichi Budokai Announcer, Raditz, Nappa, Zarbon, Dodoria, Yakon, Dabura, Cacao, Daiz, Medamatcha, Kogu/Gokua, Android 16, Arqua, Nam, and Arale just off the top of my head. There are probably more I like but I don't feel like pulling up a character list.
Krillin, the guy is just a ridiculous midget without nose.Seriously, he looks like some kind of bizarre monster.
Krillin's head is also pretty big like a balloon.

Eh... it gets kinda old hearing elitists say things like "IT SHOULD HAVE ENDED WHEN GOKU MET BULMA"
I really like Ghurd (he's minor...right?). I love how in the cartoon he has this unusually fleshed out back story and he's actually developed to be pretty sympathetic, at least in my book. You just know he's caught shit from everyone his entire life, I just can't help but to cheer on the little guy.

Edit: The Tenkaichi Budokai Announcer is pretty awesome too. It's so cute to see how he's so excited to see everyone in the Boo arc. That's as close as I've ever felt to the heroes having a "good acquaintance" in any manga. Not best buddies but still very friendly and memorable to one another.

Suno (or is it Snow?) is my favorite minor character. I also like to think she grew up to be a hot red head (yes I know we see her briefly as an adult in the Buu saga but she was all bundled up so it doesn't count).
