The Victor's Dance = Budokai 2 Theme?

Post by SRB2Unleashed » Wed Sep 21, 2011 3:56 pm

I don't get it, a lot of people claim that the Fierce Battle sounds like Budokai 2's theme and I just don't hear it. Can somebody explain that for me?

EDIT: The song in The Victor's Dance

Which "The Fierce Battle"? Final Fantasy or DB Kai? And what do you mean by "Budokai 2's theme"?

IIRC, a lot of people said the song at the end of Episode 59 of Kai which is indeed 'The Fierce Battle' sounds like the theme to Budokai 2. Personally I don't see it. :?

I think that's actually episode 58 and they were talking about "The Victor's Dance" which played just before "The Fierce Battle" and does sound like the theme song of Budokai 2.

Wow awesome, never watched Kai but that's great they got that theme in there.

It's not even just similar, it's a remix.

Similar, but I'd hardly call it an orchestration of "Kusuburu heart ni Hi wo Tsukero!".

The main melody is practically note-for-note. This is the kind of stuff I expected from Yamamoto's score and I wish more of his tracks from the video games made it into the show. Where oh where was my "Hikari No Willpower" when Trunks showed up? My 12 year old self has been waiting for that moment for over a decade. Sadly, it will never be.

It's the same, yes. Also, I think he might have plagiarized the melody from Braveheart (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fk8323r577w). Still, I really miss Yamamoto's score. Watching the scene where it SHOULD be the Victor's Dance (Gohan training with Piccolo/Goku for the androids' arrival), but instead it's some weird music.

That's exactly what has been in the back of my mind for a year. I do find a similarity in it.

Yeah it sounds similar.
Gives me more reason to believe that Yamamoto was tasked to make the soundtrack more appealing to western audiences and so decided to take inspiration from top hollywood movies to accomplish that.

Yeah, I Mean I don't blame him for what he did. Perhaps he should have asked those composers for permission beforehand, but he did add his own style to it, and the result was way better than the original score.

This happens lot of times with remixes. When they hire remixer and the result is clearly better than original, they ditch him away completely..... One of the reasons, why most of pop music singles are full of boring and uninteresting remixes.
This thing not happens in dance and club music much, don't know why.
