Movie Poster Scans request

Post by sumpter360 » Sun Jul 08, 2012 12:30 pm

Hey guys,

Does anyone have high-res scans of the DB and DBZ Movie posters? Preferably the ones with all of the Japanese text still in tact, like these:

http://www.kanzenshuu.com/movie/

Thanks in advance!

Best I can do, and subject to moderator approval. This feels like a bit of a grey area, so I thought I'd take a chance and try to help.

If there is one, then I'm not aware of it.

Glad that folks are enjoying them. I don't really see these specific posters around too much anymore.

Thanks, man! Beautiful posters, with that feel of Japanese authenticity (it might be a weird way to say it, but it came to my mind that way!)

I noticed that the DB movie 1 poster was shorter than the others, here's a quick 'shop to extend it: http://i.imgur.com/ksExW.jpg

I'd love to see someone else do it better - I can't seem to get the colour correct. The background marble texture is the same as some other posters (but not all).

What Lemmy posted are scans of the the entire first page of each movie section in Daizenshuu 6, all of which feature textless versions of their respective movie poster. The original posters, with the Japanese text, are available on the Dragon Box The Movies and were once posted by Toei Animation on their promo site for the DVD release. Unfortunately they've never really been available in very high quality, as far as resolution is concerned. Even the ones on the Dragon Box aren't all that great because they're MPEG compressed and still quite small. The original posters are printed in the Dragon Book too, but they all have other text and graphics from the book placed over them.

None of the TV specials had posters, as they weren't actual theatrical releases. Besides, none of the daizenshuu covered anything GT, so they wouldn't have a poster in there anyway.

Hujio, my friend, perhaps you can take a moment to enlighten those of us (like me) that aren't terribly familiar with how a DragonBall movie releases in the home country. Were these ever actual physical posters that one could... ya know, own? Is it conceivable that some superfan actually owns these posters and has them hung up on his wall, or something? Or were they always just in books or digital media, or whatever?

Heath has the movie 9 poster behind him when we record, and my movie 13 poster is on the other side of the wall when I record.

So yes :).

Well then, call me a superfan because I have two! But yeah, each movie had real physical posters that one could own. If you peruse the Japanese Yahoo! Auctions site you'll find a bunch for sale, which is where I bought mine a few years back.

Anyway, here's the DBZ movie 9 poster that hangs behind my desk in our basement. I also have the DBZ movie 8 poster framed, and I plan on rotating the two every now and then.

That is fucking awesome. I only have small DBZ Movie 12 poster that I cut out of a magazine when I was 9.

It's shifted in its frame over time, it's not even hung up, and it's got a whole bunch of crap surrounding it, but:

You have a Virtual Boy? Now that's just beyond sad! But what's even sadder is that I am so frickin' jealous of the fact that you have one.

Can I make it worse by saying that I actually have two Virtual Boys in my house right now...?

Well, I mean, of course that makes sense! You can't let one of them get lonely. And since they're an endangered species, one day they'll have to breed to propagate the species.

And also, Dragon Ball posters! I don't have any movie posters, but in college, I loved the poster I did have. It was a FUNimation poster featuring Goku, Piccolo, Kuririn, Yamucha, and Tenshinhan doing epic posing. Unfortunately, it's packed away in my mom's attic right now.
