"Something Cool" Relating to FUNi's Dragon Boxes Next Year?

Post by fps_anth » Fri Nov 16, 2012 12:26 am

Someone asked about the Dragon Box survey on toonzone:
I don't suppose anything [you can speak publically of] ever came of that Dragon Box survey/poll?
Surprisingly, a FUNimation rep responded:
Still working on it. There will be something cool for next year.

Could this be the Movies box we've all been waiting for? Would be a pretty nice tie in for the new movie next year!

I'm not getting excited, but this has me a little more optimistic.

Honestly, I'm really hoping that Funimation will release the original dragonball Dragon-boxes first. I'm still riding on the fence about getting those season sets. Sure, I would love to have the movies in the dragon-box quality, but I think I want the original series more than anything. but thanks for the info :)
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

It might be DragonBall. I remember a while ago FUNi said the next time DB will be released on DVD again would be in 2013. If anyone reading this knows what I'm talking about, please post a link.

I gotta say, I would be a little dissapointed. I really wanted the movies. I mean, I don't hate DB, it's just that I really only like the first 13 episodes and the last set of episodes that make up the Piccolo Jr. arc. Meh.

I don't remember which one I voted for in the previous survey regarding a hypothetical future DBox. In any case, I'm hoping nobody makes the mistake of waiting for it all to come out before buying it. Otherwise they'll be in the same "limited release" fiasco from before.

It'll probably be a DBox release for the movies (with the specials and *hopefully* the original Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans.)

Maybe it'll be released in the form of two or even three boxes, who knows.

Really? That's kind of surprising, to be honest!

With episodes from a series that have been released and re-released a million times from Funi, I'm not excited about anything Funi comes out with anymore unless it includes exclusive collectibles or completely new material ("Yo! Son Goku and his friends Return!" would be worth at least taking a look at if they had Kai voice actors).

I don't even own any of the Funi Dragon Boxes, or the GT Green Bricks.
My best guess is they're getting the rights to dub Clash of Gods. Whether or not that'll have to do with the Dragon Boxes is anyone's guess.
I wipe it off the tile, the light is brighter this time, everything is 3D blasphemy.
My eyes are red and gold, the hair is standing straight up, this is not the way I picture me.
I can't control my shakes, how the hell did I get here? Something about this, so very wrong.
I have to laugh out loud, I wish I didn't like this. Is it a dream or a memory?

A blu-ray re-release of the DBoxes :P (Would that even be possible?)

But seriously, I'd like to see the original Dragon Ball on DBoxes but something is telling me it is going to be the Z movies.

I really wish it would be the Dragon Ball Dragon box :/ The movies box will end up costing less than the funimation ones msrp. You can get it for like 120-150 compared to Dragon Ball that goes for around 400-500 :/

Yeah, I suppose I should have posted that over here. Coupled with the supposed word that Dragon Ball would see another release next year it looks like Dragon Ball Dragon Boxes might be coming.

Here you go, it's in the thread talking about the Harmony Gold dub:
DerekPadula wrote:The Head of Marketing (who's name I don't want to disclose) said that he's excited about seeing what's on it, and would love to use it to help market the next release. But he also mentioned that the next release of the original Dragon Ball is going to be a ways out, probably in 2013.

I don't think people realise just how much stuff we're missing in the original series. We've never had the second opening aswell as the various endings and next episode previews before, have we?

Seriously hoping it's Dragon Ball. Movies would be nice too, hopefully as one big collection if it's the movies. GT can come last... I'm ok with that...

The movies would be nice, but I will be happy with the original Dragon Ball anime. I plan to pre-order it once it's officially announce. I do regret selling my DBZ Box 1 a few years back since I had no idea how much they would be now.

Second printing of the DBZ DBoxes.

The people who bought them for $400 each on Amazon will jump from their rooftops.

And I'll laugh uproarously.
