Re: Favorite Faulconer track?
Coycoy just uploaded this. Just wanna say a lot of the U.S Score for The History of Trunks special reminded me much of the Faulconer Productions score. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OecQlNDVlu4
Also, at 17:14 has my favorite track. Literally searched for this track for years. And it's finally here.

Re: Favorite Faulconer track?
I think Heroic Trunks is now my favourite theme from Faulconer productions (credit to whoever actually did it)

Re: Favorite Faulconer track?
That one is Mike's writing/arrangment. I played the lead and rhythm guitars(with some small amount of creative input there). Thanks!dbzfan7 wrote:I think Heroic Trunks is not my favourite theme from Faulconer productions (credit to whoever actually did it)
(edit, forgot that I had done some sound design work for this as well creating that "Chhaa!" sounding drum thing)

The bit that appears at the 40 second mark has always been a favorite of mine. It appeared a lot in the 1999 episodes and had a very nice, soothing, ambient feel to it. I feel like the version on the Best Of CD kind of ruins it by cutting it off at the 50 second mark for a heavy sounding track (I can only imagine this was a specific mix for an episode -- kind of like how the "Ginyu Force Theme" mix is specifically from the first two minutes of Ginyu Assault -- but I can't recall which one in particular "Finding the Capsule" is from) I really wish the full version had been released (Or the most that had been made of it, anyway). Kind of like "Time Chamber" (Odd choice of a name considering it's first used in Ginyu Assault). I've loved this song ever since the in-house dub premiered and the Trunks compendium cuts off the ending to it so it can segue into a completely different song in the middle of the track.

King Cold's theme. I like how squeaky and alien sounding it is.

Ah this really takes me back. Probably my favorite Faulconer track, great job OP! It's such a distinct piece, even coming from Faulconer.TheMightyOzaru wrote:I realize Faulconer isn't very popular around here, for reasons I'm sure are obvious to everyone at this point, but I'm sure everyone has at least 1 track they like. I actually don't think there is any other track that reverberates to me as much as that one.

Re: Favorite Faulconer track?
Proportionally speaking, there was a lot of effort put into that particular track since it was a promotional piece written for the Trunks commercial. Mike took some extra time on it.RocktheDragon wrote:Ah this really takes me back. Probably my favorite Faulconer track, great job OP! I remember having to step over wires between Bruce and Mike's offices because Mike was using processing gear that only Bruce had in his office. (and I chipped in as well as I mentioned above)

By far my fav tracks are the guitar Riffs in between battles like these :-

Faulconer may have not cared enough about the ambiance or emotional aspect of the show but he sure knows how to really good guitar riffs.

Am I the only one who thinks that Faulconer's Ginyu Force theme would suit Mirai Trunks?

Re: Favorite Faulconer track?
Faulconer cared at first and then left things to us mostly. We definitely cared though you might not have agreed with what we did. The guitar riffs above we either by myself or Mike. The real guitar ones (Vegeta Kills 19 and Destruction) were my writing\playing so thanksRockman X wrote:By far my fav tracks are the guitar Riffs in between battles like these :-

Re: Favorite Faulconer track?
The passive orchestric sounds were the best imo, thats the theme they should have used when they composed it.
- Babidi's mind control theme: the piano bit was what made it significant. I think the music was actually at its best in the Buu saga. Most sounds felt smoother and a bit more natural than in the Android arc. The quality vastly improved in the Babidi arc where the sounds were more softer instrument-based synth sounds like the Pokemon games rather than the noisy, electro rock the Dub was more known for.
Top Tracks
- Babidi Mind Control theme & Cell Jr. Theme are probably the best examples of what the music should have been.
- Vegeta's SSJ theme (with intro build up) for the same reason. The piano.
- Mr. Buu's Theme: the piano as well. Though the tume capturing Buu's baby-like personality was spot on.
- Super Buu Scary theme / Buu Anticipates Theme: simply because of the chello.
- Kame House steel-pan tune: I thought it captured the island feeling of kame house perfectly.
- RoST/Time Chamber Trance Theme. The slow flute ups and downs perfectly done with that meditative feel.
- Cell's Slow theme is good too, a lot better than his normal themes.
- Goku's SSJ3 theme was made for that form, the triumphant memorable tune.
- Gohan & Goku train theme, one of my favourites.
Honorable mentions:
- Vegeta's Hell Bells. One of the most iconic enterance themes in the dub itself. When Vegeta gets real.
- Trunks Heroic Theme / Goku's Sacrafice Theme (Slowed) Would have sounded better with just orchestra synth.
- Cell-Gets his tail ripped: Same thing, as BGM its the signifier when things usually got bad to worse.
- Goku vs 19 theme (Mid violin Solo) is what makes this theme really nice to me, too bad its not the entirity.
- Kid Buu's fighting theme. The very tune of it is iconic for his character to me. Perfectly describes him.
- Goku Trains Gohan Theme. Gives that Badass Feeling and The Synth is pretty mellow.
My least favourites were:
- Imperfect Cell's theme (sounded too generic and sounds were slow and weak; sounded like a demo beat)
- Goku's SSJ theme (The guitar sounded low quality and too artficial as well.)
- Gohan's attack theme (sounds unfitting, and the guitar was too blarring and noisy)
- Piccolo SuperNamekian Theme. I don't hate it but its just a weird tune to me.

Which one? The one that's listed as his official theme despite not being used that way in the series, and being a mashup of several other songs?SingleFringe&Sparks wrote:My least favourites were:

Or the unreleased one that's actually used like it's his regular theme, yet for some reason isn't listed on the Official Soundtracks?

The first one is actually pretty good, though if it was just the rapid piano tune by itself it would be even better.

Re: Favorite Faulconer track?
I'm not much a fan of Faulconer's work at all (well, at least its application and suitability for the series) but there are a few tracks that I can really get into. The absolutely off-kilter and creepy Weird Circus has always stood out to me as a highlight of his score.
Re: Favorite Faulconer track?
Weird Circus also happens to be one of my front-runners.

Re: Favorite Faulconer track?
My favorite is definitely the SS3 theme. In fact, i almost kinda wish they could reuse the song for KaiBuu.
Other songs i like... oh let's see, the initial SS transformation, Vegeta's regular and SS themes, Trunks' theme, Gotenks' theme, the Dragon theme, all the variations on Buu's theme... actually, i always thought that the Buu era was were Faulconer was at his best. I remember being disappointed back in the day when they didn't bring him back for GT or the redub of season 1. You know, I really don't get a lot of the hate the guy receives. I get the issue in replacing music in general, and i also understand the point about Faulconer's score having no silent moments, but i still feel that a lot of the songs that we did get were really fun and energetic. That's why i actually bought the soundtrack CDs back in the day.
