PS2 Budokai 3 on an HDTV

Post by Ex-Dubbie369 » Wed Mar 04, 2015 8:04 pm

So, I'm actually just about to buy a used PS3. Specifically, the original model with PS2 Backwards compatibility. I'm curious about how the PS2 version of Budokai 3 played on a PS3 connected to a HDTV will look compared to the HD Collection version. I'd much rather lose some of the graphics if it means I can still have the original music. Does anyone else have any experience with this? I understand its kind of a niche-within-a-niche situation.

It'll just look clearer and less fuzzy. It all depends on how you set it when you get your PS3.

Edit: I'm going off the PS1/2 games I bought off of PSN. Idk how it is for a natively backwards compatible PS3, but I doubt it's any different.

It's like playing a Wii game on HDTV. It sucks lol. B3 wasn't made for HDTV and that's how it'll look. 4:3 aspect ratio, and fuzz... just like the people here love watching the series lol.

The HD collection does look much better than the PS2 version on a PS3, but I don't like the replacement music either. I simply put the Budokai soundtracks and various BGMs from the series and games on my PS3 and play them during my game. It's not quite the same as having all the music where it needs to be, but it's a decent solution. I wish I could do it on my PS4 for Xenoverse too. :(

I think it looks great on HDTV when you use the right cables and I know, I've seen it myself via PS2 w/component cables.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

Actually, the upscaling on PS3 was great. I remember BT3 looking much better upscaled... I don't know about Budokai 3, though.

You would be playing it over an HDMI cable, right? That does help a bit.

Just like Dragon Ball since Chapter #4.

I played it through an HDMI cable on a projector.
