A series based on each character? That's what it sounds like lol

Has this been confirmed to be an actual thing or just a rumour?

Is this the real life? I'm ecstatic at the moment and I can't wait for the first images and trailers! I hope the multiverse gets a bit fleshed out and we get some more back story on Beerus, Whis and Super Saiyan God.

Will you still be pumped if ssjg Goku is done in Toriyama's current art style for the series? I could see this new anime being animated based on his current art style, which I don't like as much but could get used to.

I'm just hoping Toriyama actually has control of the story but has an editor dial him back; rather than this just being off the wall rubber stamping by Toei or even worse actually Toei ideas rubber stamped by Toriyama.
His older art style is what I prefer, but I'd deal with the new style if I still get my favorite magenta-haired Gokû in there.

Also, from watching other Toei shows, episodes will vary a bit in art style from ep to ep, so we won't be locked in like we would with a manga.

Yes, it has definitely been confirmed. By TOEI themselves no less.

That would be awesome! Just an episode follow up centered on one character to build up to a series for like 3-8 characters, rather than a giant arc to kickoff from episode 1!!

This would be far better than the forced drama introduced in episode 1 of GT, such a beginning would give the story room to take shape and breath.

JulieYBM wrote:The idea to start a new series has probably been in place since January. Then again, Gaiking only had three months of pre-production, too, but it also had more animators available to it.
Which Gaiking? The original 70's version or the recent adaption from 10 years ago?
The one from ten years ago, where the series director was Hosoda Masahiro (director of Kami to Kami). Ootsuka Ken apparently said they only had three months for pre-production because they were replacing a canceled series and it was a last minute thing. Of course, the series still managed to pull off an episode with ten thousand drawings and some other impressive mecha scenes, but that's about it. You can read a really awesome in-depth blog post here.

Can we have a sub form for Super because it's going to be very hard to keep track withe everything in one big thread?

New series, huh? Hope this time the alive characters shine as well, they have time (episodes/panels) enough for it, and maybe the dead characters as well.

Incredible news but it really makes the most sense considering the resurgence of Dragon Ball's popularity over the last few years. Toei would have been incredibly foolish not to commission a new series after the response to Kai, BoG, FnF, and Xenoverse.

Hoping for a Funi simulcast.

Do they simulcast Kai? If so, they'll probably do this too. I haven't been paying attention to Kai.

Yeah it'd be nice for Goku's hair to match Nozawa's again :D

Not the Buu saga no but for Kai 1.0 I am not sure.

Decided to dust off my old Daizex Kanzenshuu account when I found out about this, that it was a real thing..... and wow... just... oh wow....

I never thought this would happen. Ever.

I figured the best we might get would be an actual newly-animated remake eventually. But this?....

As far as my thoughts on it go... I'm cautiously optimistic. Toriyama's involvement is the only thing that inspires any optimism as well.

I loved Battle of Gods, from impressions I've seen I'm hoping I'll love Resurrection of F, let's see what a Toriyama-lead anime series will be like.
I mean hey, no Manga means it shouldn't have pacing issues right?

Holy shit it really is real and it starts in only 3 months?

I wonder if it's going to be canon, is it set after RoF, new villains? So excite.

So, I woke up after sleeping in and saw this on twitter. I am both excited, and cautious. But, here's hoping that it's good.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

No, they didn't Simulcast Kai during any of its runs.

They do, however, Simulcast One Piece which is another Toei show, so we know it's certainly possible due to that.

Kai is being simulcast only in France as far as I know, with the French dub given to us the day after Japan aired it. So it's pretty much an agreement that "as soon as Japan has it, France has it".

But a TV simulcast will surely not happen with Dragon Ball Super.
Kai can be simulcast with the French dub because it was sent to foreign countries and all ready way before it started airing on TV in any country, so the dub was already recorded and ready to use.
With Super, Toei will likely just have time to get the episodes done for airing the next day, later refining the drawings for the Blu-ray release. No way to have a TV simulcast.

However, based on what they do with Sailor Moon Crystal, an online simulcast on NicoNico with subtitles in many languages is totally possible.

I hope Tomioka Atsuhiro is responsible for series organization. Like Chioka Kimitoshi, he recently worked on One Piece out of the blue...
