Any Big Sumitomo Fans?

And if so, what would you feel is his best work in Dragon Ball? Just kind of curious to see what he's like at his best.

I'm quite a fan of Sumitomo overall. He did a great job with BOG and ROF. But Kai 2.0 was quite hit and miss. Although that was due to not having much of budget to work with. I think Sumitomo best work so far has been The Invulnerable Birusu, Super Saiyan God is Born, Life that Must Be Protected, Earth's End and Freeza and his terrible power. But he really needs to work of his non-serious/happy tracks, because they're not good.

Indeed, BoG and new stuff seems good. As for Kai.... Some of it I genuinely really like. Other parts not so much. I can't think of too many scenes where it just completely and utterly threw me off when comparing it to Kikuchi. However I am very concerned for the defeat of Kid Buu. That's the one scene I can think of where without what was originally played in the Buu saga I will have difficulty accepting no matter what. It absolutely better not be that "Let it burn" track or I really am going to be quite upset.

I also love sumitomo very well as people said his kai score is a bit hit and miss but that's not his fault. Still despite being budgeted we have got some epic and interesting tracks from kai

I love his style, really.Dispite a quite low budget, he did a good job (IMO) on Dragon Ball Kai.To me, the only one to blame is Motoyama.

I sorta have a love-hate relationship.

Sometimes I love his work, sometimes I hate it XD.

I think this is fantastic

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNjDGQSpY1s

While this is horrible.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NnvpH_ ... y-r_x0p2gd

Like many people say, his lighthearted stuff tends to be bad. However he has seemed to get better on RoF

Krillin's theme is as good as it can get!! Sounds a bit like Mario Kart 8 so it's awesome for me

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Sn_xZa ... y-r_x0p2gd

His peaceful themes tend to be repetitive not only that, the guy seems to LOVE his harmonica/Melodica he uses is in far too many tracks, he mostly uses it to give a peaceful feeling.

Whi's lesson

Peaceful moment

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f02UxIN ... gd&index=7

These play on different scenes and have different melodies, yet they sound virtually the same...

Here are the end music for both movies. Doesn't they sound too similar?

Cha la head cha la peacefull earth
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWzwOKNFrK4

Z no Chikai after the battle

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnkOvIt ... y-r_x0p2gd

z no chikai is vastly better in the end however!.

The Eternal Universe parting

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9n68v5R ... C&index=37

Did I mention not only he likes his melodica but he LOVES his acoustic guitars for peaceful things too?

Bulma's birthday party

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vS_7nRiIOU4

Gohan's baseball

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUboafF ... 7y1Xm-cqmL

Easy Going saiyaman ( I love this one though!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0I12hvS ... L&index=18

Go gohan! (second part has melodica again!, but I like it)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Xy9h0U ... L&index=22

Also he uses too many synths, Well some synths here and there for variety could be good, but he just uses them TOO MUCH, he has however begun to mix orchestra and synths so he's gotten better on that aspect.

All in all, I hope for something decent for Super, but I'd rather have another composer.

I like him overall, I don't quite understand the majority's discontent with some of his acoustic guitar stuff. I like all the composers btw, Kikuchi, Sumitomi, Yamamoto, some of Faulconer, etc.
Tim Duncan is dope and forever.

He did a great job in BOG. I still didn't saw ROF.
I just saw some Buu Kai episodes, but there's some shitty sountracks in there. The party soundtrack is the worst thing ever, the recap soundtrack is bad too.
I don't remember much, but Veget'a sacrifice sountrack and the next episode preview soundtrack are godlike though.

But because of this inconsistency, I can't say I'm his fan.
I heard the main problem for Buu Kai was the lack of budget, so let's hope he got a good one for Super. We aren't talking about a shitty remaster anymore, but a new series after 18 years.
A world without Dragon Ball is just meh.

He's at his best when he's composing for dramatic, tragic or serious moments, for sure.

Resurrection 'F':

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_A-iZ0Kzqg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNjDGQSpY1s

These tracks really work well to set a dark and serious tone for the scenes they're used in. The first one starts off by giving a cataclysmic vibe, then it becomes all hopeless and finally at the end it seems like there's a glimmer of hope. The second one is incredibly eerie until the end where it gives off this grim and evil vibe, perfect for Freeza. And the third one is a perfect description of despair; I'm not a big fan of the excessive chants he uses on most of his serious tracks, it's like he relies on them to make them sound "epic", but as long as he uses them in moderation, I can deal with them.

Then there's Battle of Gods, his best work so far. I absolutely LOVE the last one in particular.

Even with Kai 2014's terrible budget, he managed to produce some gems:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yR5zPypXpJ4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWZoKXNJI_Q

His style is different from all the others in the past, and I can see why people may dislike him for that, but I'm all up for change, as long as it's good. I just think he's not suited and never will be if he doesn't improve his game when it comes to light-hearted and fun soundtracks, because that's what best describes Dragon Ball. He has shown he can do it when he wants to, he just needs to do it more often.

How could you not put Struggle Against Golden Freeza in the FnF ones?
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.
