What are your favorite recap themes?

Post by Kakacarrottop » Fri Jun 19, 2015 1:27 pm

Some of my favorites would be:

The Recap theme by Shuki Levy (probably just because i have a massive preference for Levy's score overall)
The Game Begins by Peter Berring
The GT Recap theme by Mark Menza (I don't like Mark Menza's GT score but i always thought this was pretty good)
This rock track which was occasionally used as the recap theme in the Westwood dub
"I will literally dress as Goku and walk around jumping up and down, pretending to fly, in public if this ever gets an official release"

Both Kikuchi recaps from DBZ, the Tokunaga recap from DBGT, and the Yamamoto recap from DBKAI.

I'm pretty partial to Kikuchi's DBZ recaps, especially the first one, but I have a soft spot for Yamamoto's Kai recap too thanks to its usage in the Kanzenshuu podcast.

I love them all, but for my favorite it would have to be a tie between Prologue & Subtitle II and Premonition Of A Grand Adventure.

Prologue & Subtitle II and Premonition Of A Grand Adventure, hands down.

But damn... the original Faulconer theme and announcer is iconic to US fans:

"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

Sometimes I wish the entirety of Z could be as well paced and exciting as the Japanese recaps.

Bruce Faulconer's "The Saga Continues" with both of the Kikuchi recaps being pretty good too

Although the first one's pretty good, Prologue & Subtitle II is just perfect. It sets the mood flawlessly.

Prologue & Subtitle I and II for sure. I also really like the Tokunaga recap for GT (instrumental version of "Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku").

I have always LOVED "Prologue & Subtitle II", since I was a child. It's obsessive, I adore it.
I am not an english speaker and I'm self-taught. Please excuse my awful grammar, I'm doing my best to improve.

Let's see...if I had to rank 'em, it would probably go something like this:

-GT (Tokunaga)
-Kai (Yamamoto)
-Z I (Kikuchi)
-Z II (Kikuchi)

Alas, I'm afraid I can't remember the proper names for the songs.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."
