Re: Mystery Shounen JUMP countdown
I highly doubt it and their recent track record with the series hasn't left me with much enthusiasm for a new work. Maybe if they got Toriyama, but I doubt he would sign up for such a big project...not now at least.
If anything, I'm more inclined to think it's something One Piece related. The Will of D. is already a heavily reference plot point(Thread? I don't know.) and the series is the big cash cow.
I would love to be proven wrong though.

Potentially exciting if Dragon Ball related. Possibly still potentially exciting even if it's not, so long as it involves another series I enjoy. lol

Re: Mystery Shounen JUMP countdown
I want it to be DB related (because there hasn't been any "fun" DB news popping up since the new Bardock animation in my opinion, and that was at the tail end of last year), but my thoughts are that it's One Piece related because of the whole "Will of D" thing. I enjoy One Piece though, so I wouldn't necessarily be disappointed if it turns out to be related to it instead.
It's still nice to dream though.
*Still kinda sad that Kai was so cheaply done, especially knowing that Toei's going to completely redo Sailor Moon from scratch starting next summer. I guess the upside is Toei learned a valuable lesson about repackaging? Also looking forward to the new Sailor Moon; it was my first anime after all.

Re: Mystery Shounen JUMP countdown
I highly doubt this is related to Dragon Ball, which isn't the saikyo series in Japan anymore.
Re: Mystery Shounen JUMP countdown
Despite everything, I always let a little excitement at news like this seep through. But yeah, I don' t really think it's Dragon Ball related.
Re: Mystery Shounen JUMP countdown
It'd be kinda cool if it were an Anime adaption of Cross Epoch.

It kind of pisses me off that Toei is willing to put money into a Sailor Moon remake, but not in at least doing the Buu arc for Kai.Chuquita wrote: *Still kinda sad that Kai was so cheaply done, especially knowing that Toei's going to completely redo Sailor Moon from scratch starting next summer. Anyway, Toei is an anime studio, Shonen Jump is a manga mag. If I had to guess, this announcement is probably unrelated to the Dragon Ball franchise.

Re: Mystery Shounen JUMP countdown
I feel like Kai has ended up being their guinea-pig when it comes to reboots; now they know people want them to put actual effort/money into said reboots and they're doing so.
Unless they're cancelling Toriko or Pretty Cure, I have no idea what programing slot they're going to stick their new Sailor Moon in next summer.
Actually, both Sailor Moon and Rurouni Kenshin are having their super anniversaries/reboots going on right now; it's like their versions of the early 00's of DB.
As I personally really enjoyed the Buu arc, I do feel it's a shame that Toei never finished Kai.

I was really excited for Kai, but I'm not gonna' waste money on an unfinished project. They lost my money, at least, by not doing the Buu saga.
Anyway. I doubt that this is going to turn out to be something Dragon Ball related, but here's hoping! I've pretty much lost interest in any manga/anime besides Dragon Ball at this point.

Naho Oishi's legit alternate take on Dragon Ball. I want to believe.

Re: Mystery Shounen JUMP countdown
Speaking of which, has there been any new Dragon Ball SD lately. I haven't been following the series myself, but it;s the only DB manga project right now and I was wondering how it was doing. If it's still on-going, that would mean she would have to taken on two projects and I think that's a bit too much.Super Saiyan Prime wrote:Naho Oishi's legit alternate take on Dragon Ball. The whole animation for the Saiyan to Cell arc animation was too inconsistent, sucked when a new appeared and then the original plus the music replacement didn't help Kai's reputation neither.penguintruth wrote:It kind of pisses me off that Toei is willing to put money into a Sailor Moon remake, but not in at least doing the Buu arc for Kai.
It was for the better that Toei Animation ended with Cell's arc because I can't imagine them playing the same 5-10 BGMs on Majin Boo's arc for 30-40 episodes.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:

SD is still ongoing. This is from the preview of the chapter in the current issue of Saikyo Jump (this is from their site so don't delete!):Michsi wrote:Speaking of which, has there been any new Dragon Ball SD lately. I also noticed this on Saikyo Jump's next issue page:

I don't know what that means but they're teasing something too. Given Yu-Gi-Oh! to the left I'm going to say it'll be a DB Heroes card or something.

Now I wonder what manga series can be related to "D". From what I gather, they would be Dragon Ball, Dr. Slump, Death Note, and One Piece (Monkey D. Luffy, Portgas D. Ace, and Gol D. Roger). In addition, there's a rumor of Digital Jump, the e-book version of Shonen Jump.

Most likely One Piece, like everyone else I highly doubt it's anything Dragon Ball related. But whatever it is I'm exited!

James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
Re: Mystery Shounen JUMP countdown
Doesn't One Piece already have a movie and a special lined up? Would there really be something else at the same time? ...Well, maybe. It could be anything, I suppose.
