I haven't heard anything for the US yet, that might come down with the NPD February information in a few weeks.

In Japan it sold 77,000 in it's first week.

https://gematsu.com/2019/02/media-creat ... 19-2-17-19

Sold 94,000 by it's second week.

https://gematsu.com/2019/02/media-creat ... 19-2-24-19

And 103,000 by it's third week.

https://gematsu.com/2019/03/media-creat ... -19-3-3-19

In comparison after the third week, Xenoverse had sold 127,000 between PS3 and PS4. Xenoverse 2 had sold 87,000 on PS4. FighterZ had sold 89,000 on PS4.

So yeah it's doing well from the looks of it.

Well as I said, it was mentioned on NPD.

“Jump Force debuted as February’s second best-selling game,” said Piscatella. “Launch month sales volume of Jump Force is the third-highest total ever achieved for a title published by Bandai Namco Games. Jump Force is currently the fourth best-selling game of 2019 year-to-date.”

This is very surprising. It had the third best launch month for a Bandai Namco game?

So amongst all the Dragon Ball, Naruto, Tekken, Soul Calibur games etc, this niche anime crossover game that's thread even on this site is practically dead...sold more than all but two other games? Probably Tekken 7 and FighterZ being the two.

Fourth best selling game of the year is equally as surprising, the year has just started but it means it's sold more copies this year than the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2, Black Ops 4 and Smash Bros Ultimate.

World Mission sold 70,990 copies in its first week in Japan.

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2 ... -7/.145699

That's a little more than FighterZ which sold 68,731 copies.

Not bad for a game that looks like it was made on the cheap.

Why would you expect them to have announced that yet?
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

They often say how many copies have been shipped out at launch.

True, but that's usually just big, AAA releases, not AA licensed titles like this one.

Kakarot has debuted at the top of the UK game charts.
Apparently it has sold 13% more than Fighter Z did at launch. (UK)

So Kakarot did 89,537 in it's first week in Japan. That's the best first week sales for a DB game this gen I believe, with Xenoverse coming in at second with 78,911. After a quick search it would seem that you have to go all the way back to Burst Limit in 2008 to have a DB game in Japan that surpassed this in sales, as that sold 92,298. So it seems that Kakarot is doing pretty well in Japan.

I never played Yakuza, but is the fact that the game sold considerably more than Kakarot (having been released on the same day) in it's first week strange or unusual?

Anyway, they look very good numbers compared to other DB games, both in the UK and Japan

It appears that the Yakuza series is quite loved in Japan. The sales numbers for Yakuza 5 were 357k and Yakuza 6 sold 218k. The numbers for Yakuza 7 (157k) are considered disapointing so Kakarot was never expected to come close. Whilst there has been side games that did worse than this Yakuza entry, it seems that this is quite a bad number for a mainline Yakuza game in Japan.

Makes sense. In fact, looking at the first few weeks of other Dragon Ball games, I am impressed by how well Kakarot did. Basically, it had the second best first week in terms of sales, just behind Burst Limit as you said.

Of course, the fact that there wasn’t much competition helped, and although XV2 didn’t have such a good first week, it ended up being DB’s best selling game, so it may be early to talk, but these are really good numbers.

So DBZ Kakarot has still managed to hold onto the top spot in the UK. That's really impressive since I believe this is the first time it's achieved that status in the UK, and it's now managed to do it for 2 weeks.
To put this into perspective a little more, Fighter Z, the previous peak for the series in the UK came in at number 2 for its first week, and then in it's second week dropped down to 6th place.

Also the user ScholarGohan has messaged me and provided links that show that DBZ Kakarot has also come in at number 1 in

So Kakarot was number 4 in Japan between the Jan 20th, and Jan 26th with 25,669 physical units sold.
By week 2 in Japan for this gens games Xenoverse sold 107,830 (60,627 were on PS4, the other 47,203 were sold on PS3)
Xenoverse 2: 80,402
Fighter Z: 82,968
Kakarot: 115,206

Also, Kakarot debuted at number 1 in France. The game occupied the top 3 spots with the game being split on the chart by the console version, and collectors edition. PS4 was #1, XB1 was #2 and PS4 collectors edition was #3. The Xbox 1 version of the collectors edition took the 2nd spot on the XB1 chart.

Kakarot is doing better than I expected, honestly.

Do you think it's possible for Kakarot to stay that way and eventually become one of DB's best-selling games? XV2 and FighterZ kept good numbers until they became the best selling games, I wonder if Kakarot can do the same

There's no big releases until April 3rd with RE3 so the next 2 months will help its sales grow even more.

It seems like it will definitely be up there with those games. The numbers at this point seen to be more promising aswell, but we'll have to wait and see.

Anyways, this game debuted at number 1 in Spain, and also it's maintained top spot for the second week in the US. It dropped 36% in week on week sales.

FighterZ had Monster Hunter to contend with, so it ended up coming in second most of the time. With no competition Kakarot has a big advantage.

So like I said in my previous post, Kakarot has debuted at the top of Spains game chart. It sold over 16,000 copies in its first week. The article I read said Bandai are planning to send more copies to retailers. I'm guessing it surpassed expectations for it to say that.

It's also maintained top spot in Switzerland for its second week.
