Dragon Ball’s 20th feature film has been revealed! Today, news of the film was announced at Jump Festa 2018 in Japan. The film is currently in production, which will serve as a commemoration for decades of legendary titles. Since 1986, the series has introduced many memorable and beloved characters to countless die-hard fans. The recent years have witnessed a new wave of renaissance for the Dragon Ball series. “Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods”, released in 2013, was a welcomed return to the big screen for the first time in 17 years. “Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F” followed that up with more success in 2015. From then on, Dragon Ball has continued to further expand their world; leading to the current acclaimed broadcast, “Dragon Ball Super”.
The team behind the new film will be making intensive efforts to ensure that the scale and the quality is the best of the series. Akira Toriyama, the original author of Dragon Ball, will lead the original story, screenplay, and character design.
The theme for this remarkable new film will be “Saiyan”, the strongest race in the universe. Since “Battle of the Gods”, Goku has undergone new forms from Super Saiyan God to Super Saiyan Blue to other evolved forms that have gone up against many invincible warriors from multiple universes. This new story will focus on the origin of the Saiyans’ strength and what it means to be Saiyan.
The 20th Dragon Ball film is currently targeted to be released in Japan in December 2018. Keep an eye out for more news in the near future!

• Me Grimlock here again, Optimus Prime, to pull your diodes out of laser fire. •
I don't speak Japanese at all, but I think they mentioned the word Saiyan several times. Anyway, without a synopsis, title, context or whatever I can't really get hyped.

Happy pride! Remember it isn't just a mothly thing, be proud and life your life as best as you can, it's way too short
Woo-hoo! I can't wait to see more of what this is about.

Though if this is just a lore movie about Yamoshi I'll be skipping it.
I'm actually kind of wondering if it won't be both in a way. They go to the Universe 6 Saiyan homeworld, find out stuff dealing with the original Super Saiyan (possibly God) while there that ends up tying into a new threat to deal with in the movie, or something.

I don't mean to sound a bit condescending, but why should DB be always the central focus on Goku and Vegeta, when there are a lot of lores that could be expanded upon? The Bardock TV Special was pretty good because of its new lore at the time. Why not try to invest as bit more in the new stuff not about Goku or Vegeta?
Well, I really hope is the dreamed trip to Planet Sadla, I'm really not interested in a movie about the Saiyan lore, Yamoshi or etc. for Christ's sake.

Sure, but you're forgetting that Bardock was the father of Goku, not a nobody. I can't picture a movie with a new character that I'm not invested with, this ain't no Star Wars.

Guys, I'm going to be straight with you. If you feel the show has gotten 'silly' ... it hasn't. You're just 'too old for this shit'. Seriously, 95% of the people in those boards do not fit the target demographic of the show, so don't expect the show to be 'everything you hoped for'. I'm referring to the people here who expect Super to be rich with dark moments, serious storytelling, meaningful characters etc etc. It won't. It's a show for kids. A show for kids being kids. Everyone in those boards has a manchild in him/her, clamoring to get out, and that's fine. But having unrealistic expectations (such as believing the show grew up alongside you) is naïve at best. Honestly, do you take seriously a story where the supposed God of Destruction halts his urges to blow up stuff in order to eat ice cream sundae? That's the show's silliness at full force, take it for what it is. The show hasn't matured one bit, so don't expect it too. Again, I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I'm saying *that* is DB and always will be.

Flashbacks. Not that the movie even has to feature Goku at all. Bardock's movie only featured baby Goku and only in a couple of scenes at that. I'd rather the movie not have any of the current cast in it. Let us delve into the past of Saiyans without having to deal with current events.

Well maybe the movie will begin like that until they figured the origins of the saiyans hidden in Sadal.

And then the special after it happened proving lighting does not strike twice
