What about them? What do you like? What resonated with you when you first watched them compared to when you most recently watched them? Any particular voice performances stand out to you? Musical tracks?

1) In DBS Super Hero, I liked seeing Goten and Trunks grown up(finally). Also, I liked seeing Fat Gotenks. He was pretty funny. None of the voice performances or music stood out to me though.

2) Original Broly. I love the old Broly. I love how he was under his father's control most of his life and how messed up he is. The voice performance that stood out to me the most was when he turned LSSJ for the first time. My favorite song from the movie is "Lazaras."

3) DBS Broly. New Broly is pretty cool too. I liked his backstory and his relationship with Cheelai a lot. Also, his fight scenes were great. None of the voice perfomances stood out to me. My favorite song from the movie is "Blizzard".

4) first Cooler movie. I really like Cooler. He has one of the coolest (hehe) designs in the franchise and he's awesome. I kind of forget the voice performances and music though. (It's been a while since I've seen it.)

5) Battle of Gods. I love SSG and the ritual scene. Also, Beerus is pretty funny and his fight scenes were cool.
Beerus's voice stood out to me. I think his voice actor is really talented. I kinda forget the music in the film.

Well I don't like the DB movies, for many years I did not watch them, as I understand they have no relation with the TV time line and they were created to get cinema revenue on top of the anime success, I understand and respect the industry.

I like the one with Tarles, but mostly because I love space lore and saiyans with tails. It is also very heart warming from when DBZ still felt like original DB and it had those happy family times and yamcha and bulms having arguments...

some of the movies are interesting because they would show characters that otherwise are not so present, for example I like the fact that we get to see Videl more at the second broly movie, because since the Buu Saga started we stop seing her cause she is not fighthing so I always enjoyed that. Gohan does not act like Gohan and he acts too much like Goku to my taste but yeah, there is also kid trunks and kid goten so yeah i like that movie better than others...

Uhhh.... and then probably the one with Android 13 but only because goku gets his balls kicked.

1. DBS Broly
For the scale of battles and animations
2. Bitwa Bogów
For Toriyama's humor and the essence of Dragon Ball packed into a 90-minute film
3. Bio Broly
Goten, Trunks and Satan bought me this movie and I had a great time with the silliness of this production
4. Cooler revenge
For expanding the knowledge of Frieza's lineage and the epic moment when Goku , "resurrects" the bird as a super Saiyan
5. Android 13
For showing androids 13-15

1- DBS Broly:
Fighting was great and varied, unlike the original Broly movie, there's some little humor, the reinterpretation of Broly was great, we were due for a Broly and Gogeta since 2006. Loved the music and the animation, sans those weird lookin hands and that shirtless middle-age man look Goku got.

2- Super Hero:
Loved that it moved away from the saiyans and focused on Piccolo and Gohan, and some Pan. Lots of fun, nice new characters like the Gammas and Hedo. Score, nothing to write home about, and the final portion of the movie was a little too long. The CGI was great, no complains here, it wasn't detrimental to the movie or the box office, after all.

3- BoG:
The revival movie, Beerus, Whis, SSG, all great additions. The fighting wasn't as interesting, the score left no impression on me, but it looked great, maybe a little bit too oily, but it kickstarted the current age.

4- Hirudegan:
Tapion, Hirudegan, Movie Babidi, and everybody participating in the fight, even Videl. Hell, even Bulma does something in this one. We had Ultimate Gohan, SS2 Vegeta, SS3 Gotenks, SS3 Goku... they gave us every form available and a fusion.

5- Fusion Reborn:
I mean, yeah, Gogeta. Janemba is a cool villain, he's Fat Buu at first and then a crazy Super Buu. The dead villains storming Earth was great, Gohan meeting Freeza again, etc, but it gets a little boring once Gotenks and the nazis take over for most of the second half. Paikuhan doing something, insulting Enma, also great.
I wanted to see SS3 Goku and SS2 Vegeta fighting together, but oh well, at least they fused.

Bonus: Cooler's 1st movie:
I feel I should've included this movie in the Top 5 instead of Fusion Reborn, because it's from the pre-SS bargain sale era, back when SS wasn't a thing and the franchise wasn't a nazi paradise, and also it has a very good plot, Cooler really is cooler, specially when he turns into the Shredder. He swims through a fucking KKx20 Kamehameha, and ends up being a victim of his own hubris.
The setting also, his transformation under the cascade, oh my.
Perhaps the only movie I fully enjoy of that post-saiyan-pre-Buu era.

I'm a very simple man, and I like what I like for very simple reasons.

Best I can do with any certainty is a top 4:
DB Movie 3 is one of my favorites, because it has Tao Pai Pai in it.

DBZ Movies 1-3 all hold a special place in my heart because they were the first ones I saw. In terms of both art style and in-universe status quo, they fall into my favorite era. Also a big fan of the antagonists in these. 1 is definitely my favorite of the three, because it occurs between the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai arc and the fights with the Saiyans, which means Piccolo is still Goku's greatest rival, and only an ally begrudgingly; also it has that mashup of Mystical Adventure and Piccolo's theme, which is peak DB music for me.

With 7 honorable mentions, all fighting for that coveted 5th slot:
DBZ Movies 5, 8, 12, and 13. Likewise a fan of the art style and original characters in these, but they're all farther removed from the heart of the series to me than the aforementioned trio.

I like Resurrection F for bringing Freeza back into the fold and kickstarting his path as a true martial arts rival for Goku. I like Super Hero for giving Gohan and Piccolo very stupid looking forms. But I love both films because of the absolute meltdowns that the fandom had over the things I like about them (though this applies to the former much more than the latter).

I enjoy Broly for the visuals, and the very stupid soundtrack.

1. Return my Gohan- This is Dragon Ball at it's peak. The fight choreography? Top notch. The backgrounds? Amazing. Shunsuke Kikuchi's score? Godly. Even when I feel like rewatching Dragon Ball but not Z I'll at least watch this movie at the end

2. Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle- I love when tv series goes out of their normal genre and this is Dragon Ball going horror. This is also the most cohesive of the original movie trilogy. Legend of Shen Long took too much time retelling the first arc. Mystical Advebture kind of loses itself after Goku gets Dodonpa'd to Karin Tower. This movie had its basic plot and told it well. It's Goku and friends out of their element and I dig it.

3. Galaxy at the Brink- Are Bojack and his gang boring obligatory villains? Yes. So what? This movie was a lot of fun. Entirely because of the Intergalactic martial arts tournament but I had a blast watching this.

4. Way of the Strongest- Sure it's a Dragon Ball movie in GT drag but this movie is GORGEOUS. Most Dragon Ball movies just look like exceptionally well animated episodes but this felt worthy of a theatrical release. And I will always maintain if Hollywood ever wanted to take another stab at Dragon Ball in live action with a few tweaks this would be the perfect blue print.

5. Battle of the Gods- This is just one of those movies where all the gags land for me. Drunk Gohan accidentally richocheting a bullet to Videl? The Dragon Balls being used as a lottery prize? Vegeta acting like a neurotic loon? Vegeta going apeshit when Beerus smacks Bulma down? Mai holding Trunks by gunpoint and everyone laughing her off? Beerus deciding he's going to destroy thr earth because Fat Boo wouldn't share his pudding pops? This is Toriyama letting Dragon Balls fans know he's back. While the eventual tv series it spun off was equal hit and miss this was nothing but hits.

1. DBS: Super Hero - loved that the focus was on Piccolo, one of my favourite characters, and brought his power up to relevancy again (personally love the Orange Piccolo design). The CG style translated better than I thought it would, too. Just an overall breath of fresh air.

2. DBS: Broly - amazing animation, probably the best art style and overall presentation of any DB project. The fights were varied and fun to watch, and the rewrite of Broly's character was done well. Plus canonisation of Gogeta is pretty awesome.

3. DBS: BoG - the movie that kickstarted DB's revival, and did it in such an interesting way, expanding on the celestial hierarchy and introducing the multiverse. Also love Beerus and Whis, probably the best new characters in Super. And it was great to see SSG Goku lose and there literally be no way to win (no SSJ2 Gohan a la Cell saga), but then have Beerus' admiration of Goku spare the planet. Plus the humour was well executed - who can forget Vegeta's bingo song and dance? (this movie also got my wife into DB, so it will always rank highly with me)

4. DBZ: Fusion Reborn - Janemba as a villain, while obviously a copy+paste with slight changes from Buu, was a fun and interesting take on it (what if all the evil from eons of soul cleansing became alive?) Great art style, animation obviously had a budget, the battle with Janemba was fun, and Gogeta wiping the floor with Janemba at the end was amazing. I liked the change in art style with the real world too, where the outlines were thicker.

5. DBZ: Wrath of the Dragon - a bit of an easy ending (but what isn't in a DBZ movie, I guess) but again great animation, Gotenks and Ultimate Gohan get a turn, and the sub-story with Tapion, Trunks and his past had more thought in it than most DBZ movies. Plus Dragon Fist is just so cool.

In no particular order:

Super Broli: god, Broli was so fucking hot. That sweet personality, Shimada Bin's performance, and the gorgeous, sculpted drawings. This movie was porn. Also, the film is a true revenge for the television staff.

Doctor Uirou: big fan of the eery atmosphere. The film feels distinctly unique from Toriyama stories. Doctor Uirou is so sexy, too.

Tullece: another movie with a unique flavor. I like the scenes with Gokuu and Gohan. The music is gorgeous. Daiz is gorgeous. I need Daiz, Tullece, Amond and Cacao to fuck me up.

Super Hero: such a cute film. The Piccolo, Pan, Gammas and Hedo scenes are so much fun. I loved seeing grown up Goten and Trunks. The Kubota recap was gorgeous. Piccolo was so hot, I was hoping he and Gamma #2 would kiss. Cell Max was cute, I wish he spoke dialogue, though. Wakamoto Norio sure did scream a lot.

Janemba: Yama-uchi Shigeyasu can do no wrong. Need Janember to turn me into an inanimate object.

The four Toriyama-scripted movies are a sweep for me. (Even “F”, the weakest of the lot, provides a new status quo and a heap of character interactions that immediately feel like they were provided by the original author), and then Z Movie 8 would bring up the rear as my favorite original-run entry, but that isn’t a very interesting response, so separating it out into just the original-run ones:

1. Z8 (An actual storyline! Simple as it is. Broly is a huge breath of fresh air as a credibly menacing, no-nonsense villain, and in general this manages a kind of stakes and tension the prior and later entries never even attempt again. It’s not high art, but it’s bolder than the rest of a very tame lot.)
2-5. Movie 10 (fun cast, interesting resolution, gorgeous scenery and fight scenes—one of the best at just being pretty), Z6 (uneven, but the Goku-Vegeta-Coola fight is very fun), Z13, Z5, and Z1, I suppose.

I’m not exactly sure how those later four shake out. I’m not huge on any of them, but some remain more consistently fun than others. Z4 might actually bring up the rear. Might be partly nostalgia, but I think the “Super Saiyan” transformation makes it an interesting time capsule, it has interesting scenery with all its cold neon, and the Goku-Piccolo team-up at the end is a less derivative resolution than a lot of the early films get.

Z2-4 are all pretty similar henchmen-based gauntlets (and 5 actually falls into that as well), but I might find 4 the most fun of that lot, even though the martial arts aren’t as flashy as in 2.

Of the DB-branded films, my favorite(?) might be 3. Or the 10th anniversary film? As digest versions, they’re not something I often feel like going back to. I get that it was in keeping with their purpose in a time when home video for shows wasn’t the norm and it would have been a novelty to own some of your favorite manga in animated format. Most of the ‘90s Z movies require the same lens. But then it’s no surprise that my favorites include 8, 10, 5, 6 and 13, which start to develop their own plot lines and continuity, with a little less reliance on recreating beats from the main series (5 excepted, which is basically just the Namek arc climax again).

5. Wrath of the Dragon/DBZ Movie 13
The only Z film to have a compelling narrative. I loved the friendship between Trunks and Tapion. Dragon Ball meets Godzilla isn't something I thought I would want, but I'm glad we got it. It's just a damn shame Goku stole all the spotlight at the end. At least Dragon Fist looked sweet.

4. The Path to Power
It only took seventeen films, but the series finally got a feature-length film. It's a well made retelling of the original manga's first few arcs. Before DBS Broly, this was the best looking DB film.

3. Battle of Gods
The whole film feels like a celebration of the series. Beerus and Whis are great additions to the cast. Vegeta gets some great character moments. The entire final fight is thrilling. I love the aftermath as well. That whole scene with Goku and Beerus talking in space is one of the best moments in the entire franchise. The Pilaf Gang shenanigans does bring the film down a bit, though. The film also doesn't look that great in some parts.

2. Super Hero
Piccolo. That's enough to justify this being one of the best DB films. But to go into more detail, the whole film feels like an answer to one of my biggest gripes with Super. It's always been the Goku and Vegeta show. So it's nice to finally get a story where Piccolo is the main protagonist. He's the big green disgruntled uncle that's out to save the world, going all Metal Gear Solid and sneaking through the Red Ribbon base. I love the stuff with Pan. I love the Gammas. I even love the CG animation (when it's not on Beerus' world). I don't really have any major gripes. The film is only let down a bit by a slow start, some awkward-looking models on Beerus' world and Gohan's transformation not really making any sense. What even is Gohan Beast?

1. DBS: Broly
I think I've gushed a bit too much about this film on this site. It's honestly gone down as one of my favourite animated films ever. I don't think they'll ever top this. It's peak animated Dragon Ball.

The latest films are the ones that feel like real films and not just random and longer episodes. Anyway.

1. Super Broly.
First one with an actually substantial story. It gives a new context of Goku's background and adds something of significance to the overall story of DB.
I know it's unpopular but I feel Goku gained some depth by giving him a connection to his parents and I like that he has a mom that cared about him instead of being some rando savage.
Everything else about the movie I think is perfect.
Nuance, pacing, character dynamic and the subtle comedy was all spot on. And it has the best camera work of a fight I've seen in the series. Vegeta's fight especially was just, mindblowing. The way it progressed the antagonists story through this long fighting sequence without breaking the tension was awesome.

It's the most exciting and technically better movie of all, in my opinion.

2. Battle of Gods.
Also perfect. The introduction of the best new addition to DB, Whis and Beerus. (whose english voices are fantastic) and a great intro to Super, it was so fun and genuinely funny. The best character dialogue and dynamic.

3. Resurrection F.
Overall it kinda felt like a mix between Broly and BoG. And it has something that felt special to me.
The animation of Goku vs Frieza fight looked cool.
And I reaaally loved the entire ending sequence and the end credits song.

4. Fusion Reborn
Love this for giving a version where Vegeta gets justice that he never got in canon. Losing his power, experiencing some consequences instead of immediately resuming his life in Bulma’s mansion as if nothing. His scenes with Goku were nice and felt more genuine than any other interaction they’ve had. The movie overall had an isolated feel to it that I liked.

5. Yo! Son Goku and Friends return!!
It has a really nice mood, I liked Yamcha having a moment saving Bulma, and Goku tricking Vegeta was funny. This was the last one that I watched when I got into the series prior to Super Hero and I'd rather watch this anytime.

If we're discounting the TV specials, then:

1. Battle of Gods - Still the best piece of modern Dragon Ball material to come out and it manages to reach some of the heights of the original series.
2. Superhero - Definitely did not expect to like this movie as much as I did, but Toriyama's great character writing brings it to life.
3. DBZ 13 - The best of the original 13 movies. They are usually devoid of substance but this one manages to create a compelling character arc for Tapion and Trunks, with interesting lore and aesthetics.
4. DBZ 12 - Just a fun movie all around.
5. DB 3 - I always liked retellings and reboots because they present opportunities to tell an interesting story and I think this movie manages to enhance some plot beats of the original series while condensing two long arcs into a short film.

Not a big fan of Broly. It's a fun movie for its action but the first third of it completely misses the mark. Unlike M12 which is also just a fun action movie, you reach a point in Broly where the action is too much.

1. DBZ Movie 1: The animation is gorgeous, Kami and Garlic Jr's blood feud plays into the mystical aspects I love about the series, it features some of Kikuchi's best tracks (specifically the one that plays when Shenron is summoned, the Makafushigi Adventure-Piccolo Theme medley, and the track that plays when Garlic Jr summons the Dead Zone- AKA the track that plays when Goku goes Super Saiyan for the first time in the Freeza arc), and overall still has that Pre-Z Dragon Ball feel that I also love.

2. DBZ Movie 2: I like robots so the whole bio-warrior theme the villains have appeals to me (As an aside: I've always liked the androids in concept for the same reason). I like that the movie takes place in a cold, frozen area (and out of the movies that utilize this type of location, this is the one I like the most), I like Gohan's "I love Mr. Piccolo" song, it features one of my favorite renditions of Piccolo's theme, I like the final rendition of "Makafushigi Adventure" that plays when Goku fights Misokatsun (my mind was blown when I rewatched this movie again after watching OG Dragon Ball on Toonami and recognized that tune when I got to this scene), I love Dr. Uiro's design, and I like that he's one of the more unique movie villains in terms of concept and motivation. Lastly, Bulma is rocking her 23rd Budokai design and that's my favorite Bulma design.

3. DBZ Movie 3: I like Tullece, he's my favorite "Evil Goku" and IMO, the best execution of that idea. Also, for me, this is one of the few movies where it feels like the world is truly in danger and I think that's because the film goes out of its way to show all the devastation the Tree of Might is causing. More great tracks from Kikuchi show up here, specifically the track that plays when Shenron is summoned and the one that plays when Goku starts charging the Sprit Bomb. I also like that the rest of the crew shows up here, if only to get their assess kicked- though Yamucha's bit where his expensive new car getting destroyed by Tullece's crew is amusing. Finally, I like that the opening is a montage of Gohan and co. collecting the Dragon Balls instead of the standard TV series opening.

4. DBZ Movie 12: Movie 12 perfectly encapsulates everything I love about the Buu arc: The emphasis on humor, the return to more mystical stuff, and overall being a fun roller coaster ride filled with surreal crazy shit. Janemba is basically the movie version of Majin Buu, but more than that, he's Majin Buu turned up to 11. His amazingly weird powers make him come off as more of an outright reality warper than Buu was (and Buu was already a soft-reality warper). He's lacking in characterization, but he makes up for that with those cool abilities; plus he has the excuse of literally being an evil incarnate amalgam, similar to Piccolo Daimao. Finally, some of my favorite Kikuchi tracks are from this movie, namely Janemba's theme, the track that plays when Goku goes Super Saiyan 3 (which is one of my favorite renditions of Kikuchi's Saiyan/Super Saiyan theme), the track that plays when SS3 Goku fights pre-transformed Janemba, and the track that plays when Gogeta is born.

Honorable mentions: Movies 13, 8, 10, and 11.

If there was no revival, Movie 13 would be next because the bond between Trunks and Tapion gives the film the kind of heart that had been missing from the movies for a while.

I don't actively dislike Broly, but I do think there's truth to what his detractors say about him representing the worst aspects of the franchise. Nonetheless, Movie 8 is one of the better written movies.

Movies 10 and 11 have traditionally been some of my least favorites, but lately I've come to appreciate them for the focus they give to other characters.

5. Dragon Ball Super- Super Hero: This film just edges out Battle of Gods as the best of the revival films for me (BoG problematically shipping Trunks and Mai stops me from fully embracing it, RoF feels like a mid-to-low tier Z movie with modern animation, and Broly feels like it had a good story with Broly that was only partially told). Making Piccolo the main character (Gohan being billed as co-lead feels like false advertising honestly, he's more like a glorified supporting character) was a breath of fresh air and giving him a power up that finally puts him on par with the Saiyan characters was great- Plus I like how over the top yet awesome Orange Piccolo's design is. I also like how both Piccolo Daimao and Kami are referenced by other characters when they speak to him, showing that the legacies of those two still loom large over the current Piccolo. Dr. Hedo and the Gammas are fun new characters, the humor is great, Piccolo's friendship with Pan is endearing, and the nostalgia pandering here actually felt earned for once instead of being groan inducing.

1. DBZ Movie 13-It’s a very different kind of movie in the franchise that tells a compelling story with Tapion and his relationship with Future Trunks. It feels more like an actual movie than nearly every other Dragon Ball movie. The one gripe I have is that it’s also the one Dragon Ball movie that I think would’ve benefitted from a longer runtime. I’m not saying it needed to be a full two hours, but an extra 5-10 minutes would’ve been nice.

2. Battle of Gods-This movie was a welcome breath of fresh air at the time. It brought new life into the franchise, and gave us a unique kind of villain, and actually did a good job of expanding the lore of the series in interesting ways. Unfortunately, I can’t say I care much for the precedent this movie set with modern Dragon Ball, but at the time at least, it was new and fun.

3. DBZ Movie 12-There’s not much of substance going on here, but that’s fine. It’s just a wacky and fun little piece of animation that has a little something for everyone. It has zany humor, flashy fights, an inventive premise, a unique location, Goku and Vegeta working off each other, and a villain with a “cool design” and interesting powers, even if he’s ultimately just a Majin Boo knockoff. It’s not deep or anything, but it isn’t trying to be.

4. DBZ Movie 2-This movie has a very fun setting that feels like a 50’s sci-if B-movie, with memorable villains and some great fight choreography.

5. For me, this is a toss-up between OG Dragon Ball Movie 2 or Movie 3. I like Movie 2 for similar reasons that I like DBZ Movie 2; it has a fun campy horror setting with some unique villains. Movie 3 or Mystical Adventure is fun because of how it condenses the RRA and the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai arcs into a surprisingly inspired and cohesive story that actually makes Chaozu an interesting character for once. It’s almost a shame that the continuity of the first three Dragon Ball movies never got to continue. It would’ve been interesting to see what other unique spins they would’ve cooked up.

I'm really not interested in showing up my personal list, as everything I could say was already been said by everyone else here.

In other hand, I would like to say that I'm really surpised how absolutely no one here, except for MasenkoHA, has The Galaxy In Danger as one of the favorites. I generally see people praising this movie a lot, and saying that it's better than Broly 1993. I really love this movie, but I seriously think that it's super overrated.

It's literally just the Cell Games but in a different scenario and without Goku (almost)
Bojack's gang is just the Cell Junior crew, Bojack's character isn't interesting and Gohan going SSJ2 and defeating Bojack is just a repeat of what happens in Cell Games but less memorable.
I really can't understand how people think it's better than Broly 1993, Broly 93 is a retelling of the Perfect Cell arc, but they clearly tried their best to tell a new story, as the plot itself is vsry original, Broly's character is way more interesting than Bojack and more menacing as well.
The fights are better and have a better teamup than the ones in Bojack. Everyone also have a much better screen time fighting in Broly 1993, you can really see and feel why the characters get tired troughout the movie, Broly's strenght really leaves a impact.
Unlike Bojack, where everyone except for Gohan and Trunks are kicked out of battle in less than 2 minutes, heck, Piccolo literally shows up and gets beaten in less than a minute, and then, disappears?
Vegeta also only lasts less than a minute in Broly 93? Yes, but at least you can see how hard Broly beats him, Broly crushes him against a giant rock, and when the camera get's closer, you can see him totally fucked up and weakened, unlike as how it is in Bojack, where Bojack beats him up, but you don't see him harmed, or anything, just detransforming, then Bojack transforms, charges a blast against him, and then......? We don't see what happens, lol, sorry but I really can't understand how this Movie is superior than Broly 1993, I honestly think that from all the Z movies, it's the one that most lacks originality, Broly 2 had some interesting ideas and Bio Broly had different characters as the stars.

I also used to think that Fusion Reborn was overrated, but this movie is actually very uncomitted, unlike The Galaxy in Danger, which for me already makes it better than Movie 9 imo, it's just a fun adventure that don't have the purpose of being taken seriously, and for me it' way more original as well.
Broly 1993 is one of my favorites, even though he's defeated with the power of friendship, something that I honestly? Don't even care that much
I simply wouldn't want to imagine my life without Dragon Ball, thank you Akira Toriyama (1955-2024), you are now immortal.

1. World's Strongest- I love that this film has an awesome score and cool fight scenes. The heroes aren't overpowered and the settings are unique.

2. DB Super: Broly- Toriyama took a movie character in Broly and made his story work within respect to the main timeline. The best part of the film is Broly essentially joining the cast. Gogeta appearing was a nice touch too.

3. DBZ Bio Broly- It's unconventional as far as DragonBall movies go. I loved how Trunks and Goten beat the biowarrior in the end.

The rest of movies are equally enjoyable so it's hard to rank them.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.
