Theme Guide

Video Game Songs

Listed below are the vocal theme songs used throughout the Dragon Ball franchise’s extensive video game history. These songs are generally listed in release order, and then individually within a game by opening, insert/character theme, and ending theme(s). The basic information for each theme has been listed, although more detailed information may be available through additional links provided.

Vocal songs from video games have an interesting history, dating back to an era where CD-ROM games allowed the inclusion of fully-produced audio recordings and/or synthesized or MIDI music generated by the game system, while at the same time cartridge-based systems were still on the market that largely could not include vocal songs due to storage space considerations. As such, vocal versions of otherwise instrumental tracks were occasionally produced and released on soundtrack albums for their respective games. Later into the DVD-ROM era of games (and beyond), vocal performances became increasingly common for opening and ending themes, and eventually became standard even for international releases outside of Japan.
