Toyotarō Afterword

This time, to finish out the volume, I drew the secret story behind the birth of “Saiyaman X,” a manga version of a text originally written by Toriyama-sensei that I then expanded upon.

While we were working on the Saiyaman X chapters that serve as a prelude to the Super Hero arc, Toriyama-sensei also gave me this origin story, saying “I don’t really mind if you use this in the actual chapters or not,” but I thought it would be such a waste to just leave it by the wayside, so I really wanted to turn this into a comic. Since it had already been decided that there would only be three prelude chapters to the arc, I had no choice but to wipe my tears, give up on the idea, and draw only the three chapters after they had already become Saiyaman X.

However, it was a story that I really wanted to draw, just to bring the Super Hero arc to a close, but thankfully, they let me have my way and I got to draw it as a one-shot.
