1 This is a one-page comic done by Akira Toriyama within the first (of three) tankōbon-sized collected volumes of his short works, Akira Toriyama’s _____piece Theatre. This self-deprecating, biographical comic tells the story of developing the one-shot Pola & Roid in the on-going “Jump Readers’ Award” competition. The name is a play on “Polaroid”, an American company perhaps best known for their instant film and cameras popular during Toriyama’s day.
