This episode adapts a two-part story from the ''[[Dr. Slump]]'' manga: Part A adapts [[Dr. Slump Chapter 25|Chapter 25: "The Great Strawberry-Panties Caper (Part 1)"]] and Part B adapts [[Dr. Slump Chapter 26|Chapter 26: "The Great Strawberry-Panties Caper (Part 2)"]]. Chapter 22 of the manga was moved to [[Dr. Slump Tankōbon Volume 3]] to avoid breaking up this two-parter, making Chapters 25-26 the 24th and 25th chapters respectively in all collected volumes.

When [[Senbei]] hears that [[Midori Norimaki|Yamabuki-''sensei'']]'s panties have a strawberry pattern, he is dying to see them. A genius idea flashes through his mind!
