He agrees to go along with her and they proceed to the next ball at the seashore. Once there, Goku rescues a turtle and is rewarded by the Turtle Hermit with a Kintoun. Just then, the Pilaf gang attacks to capture their dragon balls, but the hermit and an accidental kamehameha by Goku knocks them back. Pilaf swears his revenge while the Hermit hands Goku and Bulma their fourth dragon ball.

	~~TBD~~		Deep in the mountains, Son Goku lives alone with his [[dragon ball\|4-star dragon ball]] which he keeps to honor his [[Grandpa Gohan\|grandfather]]. He tells the ball that he is going out to look for some food, but is immediately struck by a car driven by a young girl. [[Bulma]] initially fears for the boy that she struck, but he gets up and attacks the "monster" that hit him, destroying the car completely. He is about to attack Bulma too before she stops him, telling him that she's just a girl. Goku says that his grandfather told him to be nice to girls, so he calms down. Bulma shows Goku the five- and two-star balls, asking him if he has seen any like them. He says that they look just like his grandfather's memento and takes her back to his house.

			Bulma explains that when you gather the seven balls together, you can wish for anything you want. She says that she initially planned to wish for strawberries, but instead wants to wish for a boyfriend. (In a spaceship somewhere in outer space, Vegeta sneezes. Nappa asks what is wrong and Vegeta says that someone must be talking about him.) Goku is reluctant to give up his ball, but Bulma convinces him that she will just borrow it while they are searching for the others together. She already knows that the balls will be scattered when she makes her wish, but decides not to tell Goku that. They introduce each other and Bulma opens a motorcycle capsule for them to ride. As Bulma and Goku ride off on their adventure, Bulma scolds him for grabbing her in an inappropriate place. Along the way, Bulma tells Goku about the [[dragon radar]] and that the next ball is located near the seashore, 120 km to the west.

			Meanwhile, [[Pilaf]], [[Shuu]], and [[Mai]] have their own larger dragon radar and are tracking Bulma's progress as she collects the balls. Pilaf, who has the one-star ball, orders his henchpeople to intercept them so that he can finally rule the world.

			Bulma and Goku arrive at the ocean. Goku comments that it is a huge river and Bulma teases him for never seeing the ocean before. Goku spots a talking [[Turtle]] that is stuck on its back. They help it and the turtle says to wait while he fetches something to thank them. A little while later, he returns with the [[Turtle Hermit]] who rewards Goku with the [[Kintoun]]. The hermit says that you have to have a pure heart to ride, which he fails to demonstrate by falling through the cloud. Bulma is also unable to sit on the cloud, but Goku has no difficulty. He says that they must not be able to ride it because of their impure thoughts. Bulma counters that when Goku grows up, he will become just another impure adult. (A brief flash-forward depicts a much older Goku offering dirty pictures of Bulma to the [[Old Kaiōshin]], proving her point.)

			The Pilaf gang, in a submarine, choose that moment to attack. They launch miniature mechs at the surface and demand that the group all hand over their dragon balls. In the process, they notice that the Hermit has the three-star ball. Goku attacks the mech with the [[nyoibo]] and knocks off one arm. Pilaf counters by powering up a blast. Not wanting the kids to get injured, the Turtle Hermit pushes Goku aside and powers up to his muscular form before launching a [[kamehameha]] at the mech, completely destroying it. Goku asks if he can be taught that technique, but the sage replies that it takes fifty years of training. High above, the Pilaf gang escaped the explosion by ejecting and are now drifting back to earth in parachutes. Mai takes a bazooka out of a capsule, but before she can fire it, Goku launches his own trial kamehameha. He loses control of the recoil, sending it off in the wrong direction, but coincidentally towards the Pilaf gang. They are struck and disappear in the explosion. The Turtle Hermit is impressed and hands over the three-star ball. Out in the ocean, Pilaf swears his revenge.

'''Bulma, Goku, and the Dragon Balls''' is the first issue of the monthly ''[[Dragon Ball SD]]'' manga series by [[Naho Ooishi]], based on the original story by [[Akira Toriyama]]. It is the fifth overall issue after the four prototype issues, but this is the first chapter which is included in the collected volumes. It was first published in Japan in the January 2012 issue of ''[[Saikyo Jump]]''. This issue represents a hard reset for the series, resuming the plot at the beginning and ignoring (and contradicting) the events depicted in the previous chapters.
