As multiple [[Merged Zamasu]] rush in, [[Shin]] teleports [[Goku]] and [[Vegeta]] to safety; he and [[Gowasu]] will escape with the [[Time Ring]], while Goku and Vegeta should use the [[time machine]]. Zamasu is determined to kill them, however, and the clones surround the heroes. Zamasu reveals that he has the time machine used in [[Universe 12]],<ref>{{Cite manga|Series=Super|Chp=17}}</ref> with which he intends to follow them to any and every timeline to eliminate them with the rest of humanity. Goku and Vegeta decide to stick around and fight to the bitter end, telling [[Future Trunks|Trunks]] to return to [[Bulma|his mother]] in the time machine. The two begin to power up without any real battle plan, when Goku suddenly remembers: the [[Omni-King]]! Would he still be around in [[Future Trunks's timeline|this timeline]]? Smirking, Goku takes out the [[Omni-King's button|button]] that can call the Omni-King, and presses it to immediately summon him there. Goku quickly introduces himself, as [[Future Omni-King|this particular Omni-King]] has not actually met him before. The Omni-King does not appear to like this place, prompting Goku to point to Zamasu as the culprit. Goku eggs him on further, asking if he wants to erase them all. The Omni-King agrees, saying a world like this… should disappear. All of the Zamasu flee in terror, while Goku shoves them all into the time machine just in the nick of time.

Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks safely arrive back in the normal timeline with Shin and Gowasu not far behind. Everyone greets their loved ones, and Future Mai meets her younger self, reuniting with Shuu and Pilaf, who tries to ask what becomes of them in the future. Everyone enjoys a relaxing dinner while relaying the story to [[Beerus]] and [[Whis]]. Even though there is technically nothing left in that world, Goku still asks to use the time machine for one last thing: to recover the Omni-King! After a quick introduction back at home, the future Omni-King is brought to the present-day Omni-King. As the two new friends run off, the [[Great Priest]] asks if this was Whis' idea, which he denies; it was all Goku. The Great Priest says he is envious of [[Universe 7]], but Whis tells him that he can come visit him any time, addressing him as "father". The Great Priest says he will, one day.

Gowasu is off back to [[Universe 10]], though not without a stern recommendation from Beerus to be more careful with future apprentices. Trunks and [[Future Mai|Mai]] want to return to some point in their future. Whis says this is possible, prompting Beerus to argue with him over the creation of additional parallel worlds. Shin tells Trunks to speak with the Beerus in that timeline so they can take care of Zamasu should he prove to be a problem there. Goku asks Beerus if he can kill immortals, but he cannot; Whis explains that they have something better than a little jar. Another set of Trunks and Mai will also be present in this new timeline, but that does not bother them. Shin asks if Trunks would like to stay as his apprentice, but Trunks states that he only took on that role in order to defeat [[Bobbidi]] and [[Dabra]]. Goku notes that, by giving up the role, Trunks will lose his ability to heal, but Vegeta says that is his way of settling things. The younger, present-day [[Trunks]] and [[Mai]] see off their older selves, with the younger Mai finally realizing and admitting to her interest in the younger Trunks. With their final goodbyes said, Trunks and Mai depart. [[Pilaf]] tries to ask one more time what happens to him in the future, but Future Mai only implies that he has an interesting future.

==Interstitial Page==
The interstitial page following this chapter in the [[Dragon Ball Super Tankōbon Volume 5|fifth collected volume]] features the [[Pilaf Gang]]. [[Pilaf]] himself is hard at work at an electrical panel connected to a mostly-obscured machine on legs. [[Mai]] asks [[Shuu]] what Pilaf is doing; Shuu, holding Pilaf's toolbox, tells her that Pilaf is building his own [[time machine]]. Taking off his welding mask, Pilaf says he wants to save his future, and tells them to get ready for the "Future Pilaf Arc"! (未来ピラフ編)

==Bonus Chapter==
In [[Dragon Ball Super Bonus Chapter 3|the third bonus chapter]] written for [[Jump Victory Carnival 2017 Official Guidebook|Jump Victory Carinval 2017]], [[Toyotarō]] reveals that a visit from [[Gohan]] is what inspired [[Future Trunks|Trunks]] and [[Future Mai|Mai]] to try to return to [[Future Trunks's timeline|their timeline]]. They are settling in with [[Bulma]], who is delighted to have a daughter in Mai, when Gohan emerges from the [[gravity room]] where he has been training. He explains that he is embarrassed that no one calls him when there is a fight anymore, so he is trying to get back in shape. Indeed, Gohan has no idea what is going on, and assumes the future must be peaceful with Trunks around to take care of it. He wants to see what it is like now that Trunks has saved it (from the [[Artificial Humans]] and [[Cell]]). Trunks remembers his own Gohan, who died to protect his world, and he is ashamed. Gohan asks how long he is staying, and Trunks says they will be leaving in a few days. Gohan wants to meet [[Future Bulma]], so Trunks tells Mai they will go back to before their world was destroyed. The narration states that they will return to a point before [[Goku Black|Zamasu]] ever appeared.

==Continuity==
The events of the manga and the anime diverge significantly. Below are the main differences, along with the episodes where the events of this chapter occur or contrast.

* At the beginning of [[Dragon Ball Super Episode 67]], [[Merged Zamasu]] also regenerates after being cut in half by [[Future Frunks]], but instead of an army of Zamasu, he regenerates in the form of a cloud that envelops the [[Earth]] and reaches out across the universe, even across timelines. From Earth, Trunks and the others can see hundreds of laughing faces in the form of [[Future Zamasu]] (not Merged Zamasu). These faces in the cloud shoot beams at the Earth from their mouths, destroying everything except the group on the battlefield, protected by [[Gowasu]] and [[Shin]] who throw up a barrier at the last minute.
* The time-traveling of [[Universe 12]] is never mentioned by Gowasu in the anime, so Zamasu does not have their time machine. There is no reason for Goku and [[Vegeta]] to stay behind, so the plot progresses directly to the Omni-King. From there, the escape plays out almost exactly the same way, down to Goku and Vegeta holding on to the [[time machine]] from the outside.
* In the anime, the nothingness of [[Future Trunks's timeline|Trunks's world]] after the [[Omni-King]] destroys it is depicted as an endless colorful fabric of nothingness, rather than the pure white void in the manga.
* The instant destruction of the [[Time Ring]] representing Trunks's world is not seen in the anime.
* The newest Time Ring is not even mentioned in the anime until the end of episode 67, when [[Whis]] tells [[Beerus]] that he is responsible for creating it.
* In the anime, Whis tells Trunks that he will personally visit Trunks's world before the point where [[Future Shin]] is killed so that he can ask [[Future Beerus]] to take care of Zamasu. Whis says they have a better way to deal with an immortal being than a pot with a seal.
* After this scene, Gowasu is seen returning his ring to its box. There are a total of six rings in the box. After Trunks's world is destroyed in the manga, it is the sixth Time Ring that is destroyed, leaving five. This can be reconciled if Whis visited Future Trunks's past as he said he would, personally restoring Trunks's timeline and ensuring its safety before Trunks and Mai departed.
* [[Pilaf]] does not exhibit any special skill with the time machine in the anime, and the logistics of traveling between parallel timelines are never addressed.
* Trunks was never stated to have been a [[Kaiōshin]] apprentice in the anime. He never exhibited the ability to heal.
* In the anime, [[Gohan]] takes a break from training with [[Piccolo]] to wave and yell goodbye to Trunks as he is flying away with Mai in the time machine.
