			Shockwaves from the two ''ki'' blasts colliding causes the earth around Gohan to crumble and for all of the spectators to be pushed back. Goku and his friends manage to hold their positions, but Mister Satan and his entourage are sent flying. The combined blast strikes Cell and then rockets into space. As Goku and his friends extricate themselves from the sand and debris caused by the shockwave, they realize that Cell is still alive. With one severed arm and both legs blasted off, Cell holds his position in the sky above Gohan. Gohan, showing emotion for the first time since transforming into [[Super Saiyan 2]], smiles.

			Goku remembers back to his and Gohan's training in the [[Room of Spirit and Time]]. The pair grappled with each other as [[Super Saiyans]] until Gohan collapsed in exhaustion. Goku congratulates Gohan on his mastery of ''ki'' control, but Gohan sneaks a punch into his father gut. Almost instinctively, Goku lashes out with a kick that sends his son flying. Goku is so terrified that he may have hurt his son that he drops out of Super Saiyan. Gohan, also back at his base form, tries to stand. As Gohan stands, he is surrounded by a yellow aura and lightning. "Are we done already?", he asks his father. Once Gohan stands, something isn't right. He's still in his base form, but his eyes have changed and he's still surrounded by the yellow aura. Goku realizes that his son's ''ki'' has come to far exceed his. Gohan screams, becoming a full Super Saiyan 2 for just a moment, before collapsing into the floor.

			Piccolo shouts that Cell can still regenerate. Goku shouts to his son to finish the job, but something has come over Gohan. He won't kill him, he says, because he needs Cell to suffer more. He continues smiling. Goku urges his son to attack, but he ignores him and watches Cell regenerate his body. Cell comes in for another attack, almost blind with rage. He transforms, becoming larger and bulkier with bloodshot red eyes. He continues attacking Gohan without realizing that his new form is slower than what came before. Gohan dodges easily. The boy kicks the much larger Cell in the stomach and watches his recoil and retch. Cell's ''ki'' drops and Piccolo realizes that he is struggling to maintain his perfect form. Moments later, a still-intact [[Artificial Human 18]] emerges from his mouth and lies unconscious on the ground. With No. 18 no longer part of Cell, what will happen to his Perfect form?
