==Biography==

[[Ages 701 - 748|41 years before]] the events of ''[[Dragon Ball Super: Broly]]'', King Cold comes to [[Planet Vegeta]] to introduce his son [[Freeza]] to [[King Vegeta]] and the other [[Saiyans]]. Cold announces his retirement and says Freeza will command his army in his stead from now on. He says that nothing will change, except that Freeza is even more cruel than he is. Freeza eventually ends up destroying Planet Vegeta, bringing the Saiyans to near-extinction.<ref>{{Cite features|Number=supermovie2018}}</ref>

To make matters worse for Freeza, this Saiyan becomes a [[Super Saiyan]] of legend and overpowers him.<ref>{{Cite manga|Chp=319}}</ref> Taking desperate measures, Freeza causes Namek to blow up, but ends up getting caught in the explosion himself. King Cold finds his son on the brink of death among the planet's debris, and helps him recover by having his missing body parts reconstructed in cybernetic form. They arrive there three hours before the Super Saiyan is expected to return, and intend to kill the remaining time by slaughtering all the Earthlings first.<ref>{{Cite manga|Chp=330}}</ref> It is then that one such [[Future Trunks|Earthling]] shows up and says he has come to kill them. Assuming this stranger is nothing special, Freeza tells one of his henchmen to get rid of him. The henchman gets defeated in one hit, though, and when the other soldiers rush in, the stranger takes out his [[Trunks's Sword|sword]] and slices through them all in the blink of an eye. Freeza decides to take matters into his own hands, but then the swordsman reveals Son Goku is not the only Super Saiyan — and transforms into one himself. Freeza fires a blast at him, and when the smoke clears, King Cold thinks the stranger has been destroyed. Then they hear him shout "FREEZA!!!!" as he fires his own [[Burning Attack|blast]] down at them from atop a cliff. King Cold and Freeza both jump into the air to dodge it, but when they look up, they see the stranger coming down on them with his sword.<ref>{{Cite manga|Chp=331}}</ref> He slices Freeza into pieces before vaporizing him.

King Cold and the swordsman land on the ground, and Cold asks him if he would like to take Freeza's place as his son and rule the universe together. When the stranger declines, Cold asks to see his sword instead. Inspecting it, he claims the stranger was relying on this weapon and cannot win without it. King Cold swings it down at him, but the stranger effortlessly catches the blade in his hand, and blasts Cold through the abdomen.
