While the character is usually referred to simply as "Magetta", the "full name" of "Otta Magetta" is introduced in [[Dragon Ball Super Episode 35|episode 35]] (and subsequently manga [[Dragon Ball Super Chapter 11|chapter 11]]) of the ''[[Dragon Ball Super]]'' series. The full name is likely a pun on the verb ''ottamageta'' (おっ魂消た or more commonly おったまげた), a past-tense inflection of ''ottamageru'' (おったまげる), which means to be astounded or flabbergasted. It is also possible that the name was influenced by "automata" (''ōtomata'' オートマタ) and that "Magetta" in particular was influenced by the famous giant robots [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazinger Mazinger] (マジンガー ''majingā'') and [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Getter_Robo Getter Robo] (ゲッターロボ ''gettā robo'').<br />
