'''Tambourine''' is a fictional character in the ''[[Dragon Ball]]'' manga series by [[Akira Toriyama]]. Tambourine makes his debut in [[Dragon Ball Chapter 135|chapter 135]], published in the 1987 #35 issue of Shueisha's ''[[Weekly Shōnen Jump]]''.

==Biography==
Tambourine is a demon spawned by the [[Demon King Piccolo]], born at some point after the [[Pilaf Gang|Pilaf Gang's]] retrieval and opening of the [[Denshi Jar|rice cooker]] Piccolo had been sealed in. Tambourine is sent to the [[Tenka'ichi Budōkai]] grounds to steal the list of registered contestants, and he also picks up the [[Four-Star Ball|Dragon Ball]] that happens to be there. He kills [[Kuririn]] in the process, which causes the enraged [[Son Goku]] to chase and fight him.<ref name="ch135">{{Cite manga|Chp=135}}</ref>

Tambourine defeats him easily, and brings the things he stole to the Demon King. Piccolo seeks the [[Dragon Balls]] in order to wish for eternal youth, and the list of contestants tells him who the strongest martial artists are in this day and age. This is helpful to him because he wants to eradicate anyone who might be able to use the ''[[Mafūba]]'' technique against him and seal him away again. Tambourine is given the job of hunting them all down.<ref name="ch136">{{Cite manga|Chp=136}}</ref>

[[Namu]] is the first martial artist Tambourine goes after,<ref name="ch137">{{Cite manga|Chp=137}}</ref> and in the anime he is shown killing [[King Chapa]], [[Panput]],<ref name="ep103">{{Cite episode|Series=DB|Eps=103}}</ref> [[Bacterian]], and [[Man-Wolf]]<ref name="ep104">{{Cite episode|Series=DB|Eps=104}}</ref> as well. After disposing of [[Giran]], Tambourine decides to go after [[Yamcha]] next,{{efn|They never meet in the manga; in the anime, they fight for a bit.<ref name="ep106">{{Cite episode|Series=DB|Eps=106}}</ref>}} but abandons that plan when Piccolo [[Telepathy|telepathically]] tells him that his fellow demon [[Cymbal]], who had been out gathering Dragon Balls, has been killed. Tambourine is surprised to see that Goku is still alive, but is confident he can finish him off this time. Goku is no longer exhausted and hungry like he was before, though, and his full power is far too much for Tambourine to handle.
