Re: Was Allenby in the Blue Water Dub?
Looks like the voice actor's name is Carol-Anne Day. According to Behind The Voice Actors, she voiced Valese in GT's Blue Water dub.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Please don't. 3,000 of you means this behaviour won't ever change. I am conflicted as all hell. Honestly, I'm not even confident Funimation will ever do another physical release of the show at all, meaning there wouldn't even be an opportunity for this behaviour to change. In any case, I'm not gonn...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Well damn this is disappointing. I think I still will order the set; the cropping always bothered me way more than the DNR and colours (not to say the DNR and off-colours don't bother me), but boy I really really hope that footage is something they just grabbed for a placeholder. Plus I like figures...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
The 30th anniversary will have 4:3. Oops! :) I’ve been told there are no plans to censor anything. :) Oo, me likey. Alright, I'm sold on this set. I have a surplus of Goku figures/statues, so I might need to workout space for a new one, but I actually want the artbook. I will happily grab and share...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
With regards to price; while I don't want to give Funimation or Toei any ideas, if this is a complete boxset of the series in 4:3 with no glaring fatal flaws, they can basically name their price and I'll pay it. I'm already expecting this to be at least $500, which puts it at significantly more Cana...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
A little frustrated that after this series gets consistently screwed over release after release, fans still have to jump through hoops like this to make a good release happen. That said, I signed. And I'll likely encourage anyone else I can to do so as well. So, in the scenario Funimation doesn't ge...

Re: The "Makankōsappō"...How WOULD you localize that?
Simply "Demon Drill." Short enough that working it into lip-flaps wouldn't be an issue, alliterative, and a decent-enough translation.

Re: Funimation and swearing
I've never in my life considered "piss" to be a swear word, and have only met 1 or 2 people who do. So with the Dende line, I'd attribute it do them just not considering it foul language. It being rewritten in the Orange Bricks could be because someone considered it vulgar, but I want to g...

Re: Dub Changes That Don't Bother You...that much
I just really like the name "Major Metallitron." It maintains the sort of "army rank followed by metal-based name" theme of Sgt. Metallic, while being just as silly and way more fun to say.

Just came by to say that, yeah, unfortunately the FunimationNow streams that just went up are not Toei's remasters. History of Trunks is a dead giveaway as it's still in widescreen and looks no better than the DVD I already had.

Re: Blue Water Dub Question
I'm going off somewhat vague memories here but I recall having to stay up late to watch this episode when it aired on YTV (missed the EST broadcast so had to catch it on the YTV-West channel 3 hours later). Anyway, I was also super curious how it would be handled since I already knew what happened. ...

Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread
So, can we be totally sure that Funimation will produce a domestic release? It seemed like a given at first, but after considering their history with Dragon Ball releases; particularly their retroactive "limited release" attitude to the Dragon Boxes; I'm less confident. Given that I'm alre...

No idea. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just an oversight.

Re: Remastered Dub Changes After Namek?
Off the top of my head, Spice (one of Garlic Jr.'s minions) had a different voice actor; J. Michael Tatum after originally being voiced by Bart Myer; Android 19 and Super Buu lost the digital filters on their voices, and I think Chris Sabat redid some of his Vegeta work into the early Android episod...

Re: Dragon Soul vs Cha La Head Cha La
Dragon Soul's a very enjoyable listen, but I think I like Cha-La Head Cha-La a little more. That said, I really wish, like Dragon Soul, we got an English cover of Head Cha-La; the fanmade covers out there aren't all that satisfactory in my opinion.

Re: Questions for people who grew up with the Westwood dub
Do you think the returning actors (Drummond, Mcneil, Kelamis) got worse than they were in the Saban/Funi days or just as good/better? Yes. I was a bit too young to articulate it, but now I can say I noticed far less nuance to some of the returning voices. Drummond's especially. The earlier Ocean du...

Re: Official "DB (Super) 2018 Movie" Discussion Thread
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I honestly get the impression that this is a skewed/tilted example that you're giving here. The issue with the Vegeta on the right isn't the facial details in and of themselves; its the fact that the shape of the head itself (and other aspects like his hairline, ...

Re: Official "DB (Super) 2018 Movie" Discussion Thread
I'm absolutely adoring the animation in the new teaser. However, I've seen the sentiment of “they sacrificed art for animation” expressed a few times and that's frustrating me. They didn't sacrifice the art at all. The individual drawings in the teaser are vastly superior to the majority of what we'...

Yes! I almost wish I hadn't read this, because now I won't be able to help being disappointed if that doesn't turn out to be the case.8000 Saiyan wrote:I'd actually love to see McNeil voice Quintela with his Rattrap voice.

Re: How influential has Kai's art style been?
Kai uses the original footage for the most part, just colour corrected and recut. I'm going to assume you're talking about the openings and endings which are new animation. In which case, a name you want to be familiar with is Tadayoshi Yamamuro. Yamamuro was the character designer for the later par...
