Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 71

Snip. Thanks, Yomi . I've been keeping out of it, but you've said just about everything I've wanted to say. This is bad art: [spoiler] https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C0AT7V8WIAEZNsW.jpg https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C0AT7z6WEAUR4UN.jpg [/spoiler] The proportions are wrong by any standard, the hand is ba...

Re: What now?

Best guess, assuming they don't end the series after this arc. They're probably going to have a couple filler episodes to lead to the next arc, similar to how the Champa arc ended with a few filler-type episodes before going into the Black/Future arc.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #56]

Mob Psycho 100 Character Designer Kameda Yoshimichi has also heavily criticized Yamamuro Tadayoshi, but not by name. Iseki probably doesn't want to return if he is going to get stuck with bad animators. He might also simply have other things he wants to do, too. Not surprised, considering Yamamuro'...

Re: DBZ vs DBS - Animation [Comparing Objectively]

I'd rather have high quality drawings with "stiff" animation than simple drawings with amazing animation if I were to choose between one. But I'd rather have both in dragonBall I'm actually the opposite myself, but for an action show, and especially in DBS's case, I kinda want both- detai...

Re: DBZ vs DBS - Animation [Comparing Objectively]

At this point, I'm not entirely expecting OPM-quality animation from Super, I just want them to make the characters not look like they're about to melt in the worst possible way. Or Toei just making everyone do nothing for minutes at a time. I just want something serviceable at this point, then we'l...

Look this scene why their beams are all blue? Budget issues? What a poorly done remake, damn. Weren't the beams...

Re: Character shadowing

Has anyone else noticed in basically all anime, that the direction of the sun and shadowing is off? Shadowing makes the characters come to life in my opinion, but sometimes I've noticed that if Goku and Vegeta are standing side by side, that the shadow will be on the right side of Goku and cover a ...

Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #51]

Oh, God, not ufotable. I hate what they do to their effects animation. Toei Animation tries so hard to have their home-grown talent stand as the pillars of their studio while others use freelancers more so than anything else to define each of their series. Toei Animation could really learn from thi...

Re: DBZ vs DBS - Animation [Comparing Objectively]

^^Those type of comments annoy me to no end. Criticizing Super's animation has become a trend and now everybody wants to jump on the bandwagon to look like they know what they're talking about. What pisses me off is that they do this even when the animation is actually good. That's because they've ...

I have several. I honestly prefer posing my figures than just having a static figure really. Gives me something to do when I;m bored.

Re: After this interview, would you like other studio for Su

I would take Tatsunoko for Dragon Ball if Toei did lose the rights for Dragon Ball. Mad House is great, but I'm not sure if they can capture the feel of Dragon Ball. Dragon Ball should have a colorful feel to it and still feel like a show for kids. Toei makes colorful looking shows which is why the...

Re: After this interview, would you like other studio for Su

I don't think they will improve the animation because this problem isn't just related to DBS, but rather to all of their animes over the past 5ish years (or more). I seen this problem in Sailor Moon Crystal (http://sailormooncrystalfailures.tumblr.com/tagged/compbr) and in the latest Digimon Tri mo...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion

Bear in mind that multiple supervisors is nothing to write home about in the current anime scene where everyone fights schedules. Jojo Stardust Crusaders often had up to 7-8 animation supervisors in their episodes. The director change is also something Toei has done a few times before, and it's not...

Frankly, aside from some of the attack names, I really don't give a damn about the names. I'll accept either language (though I'm most familiar with the American names),

Re: Cels vs. Digital Animation

People tend to understand things after actually having experienced them. I'd say the last four MCU films (everything after Iron Man 3 ) have taught me a very good lesson about dealing with adaptions, especially when they're worked too heavily to fit within a generalized context. A work friend and I...

Re: Cels vs. Digital Animation

Honestly, as an animation fan, the animation itself doesn't bother me if it's not too bottom of the barrel (Something Super, and modern Toei as a whole, seems to have an issue with). I can see where Jacob's coming from to some degree. But some of the examples listed here just aren't good as a whole ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion

The last couple episodes look like trash. And considering Tate was the supervisor on this one. I'm actually amazed the quality got worse. Even Tate's own scene looked like garbage this time. I agree with GodVegetto on how Golden Frieza looks like an ugly motherfucker. I think some of the worst drawi...

It depends on the scene, but usually I'd rather my characters to both move smoothly and not look like the failing project in a fifth grade art fair.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion

Tri's art style was so awfully generic, it was easily the worst part of an otherwise alright film. Tri's animation was mostly done by another studio, if I'm not mistaken, but correct me if I'm wrong. While DBS is mostly done by the animators at Toei. Perhaps Jacob could enlighten us regarding this ...
