Re: 2nd Kanzenshuu Short Story - Tenkaichi Budokai

My story is done. It was a bit difficult to come up with an idea that would fit the theme, but I think the end result turned out alright. It has been five years since I defeated the tyrannical demon, Piccolo, at the 23rd Tenka’ichi Budokai. Since that day, Earth has slipped into an era of peace and ...

Hiya!

Since I didn't get the chance to write any stories last time because real life happened, I would love to be in this time! My theme suggestion is "Adventure".

It got me back into anime and introduced me to a world of knowledge … and I even learnt some drawing tricks from it!

Cool! An intense remix of the openings of the Dragon Ball series! I love this sort of intense-synth-remix stuff. I could imagine something like this being played at a Dragon Ball-themed dance party or something.

Re: How old were you when you first started watching DBZ?

I started watching DBZ in 2011, when it was rerun on DR Ramasjang, so I was 10 at the time. Now I'm 15. To think it's been five years. Speakong of the number five, that was my age … I think … when I was first exposed to the series through Budokai 2, but I didn't even know what Dragon Ball was at the...

You have my respect, Toriyama.

As an amateur artist myself, I know how hard this kind of work can be … but, just two hours of sleep a day? Whow.

Awesome work!

To me, the Viz-version seems too ... localized. As you go along, I will compare with my Danish manga. If I find something interesting in that, I'll let you know.

Re: Opinions on Pieces of Music - V4!

Nice tune. It sounds like typical RPG music, but it's good typical RPG music! The instrumentation is pretty unique, and I like how the song builds up with the piano and the synth instrument, and then moves on to that awesome trumpet.

Re: Did the Dragon Boxes ever release in Europe?

Thank you for the info, guys! You were extremely helpful! So, my plan is to get the Funi singles from the "Freeza" sets onward (I don't count the "Ginyu" sets as uncut because of the subtitle censorship), and then perhaps the German DVD's for the first odd-70 episodes of the seri...

Re: Did the Dragon Boxes ever release in Europe?

German fans are definitely very fond of their original cast, and Morgenstern in particular. As I briefly mentioned earlier, the German dub of Kai , handled by a company called Kaze, was not able to afford 98% of the original cast, and they looked even worse than they normally might because literall...

Re: Did the Dragon Boxes ever release in Europe?

Somebody more familiar with either the French or German dubs would have to answer that. I'm not too sure. However, I gather that that instance where ten minutes was censored was the worst it ever got for the DBZ dub (the German dub of GT is a whole 'nother--much worse--story), and that it was only ...

Re: Did the Dragon Boxes ever release in Europe?

As someone who doesn't speak German super-fluently, I couldn't tell you if it's good or bad. I've heard some people say it's "pretty good," and I've heard other people say it's "f***ing terrible." That's anime for you...there will always be a dub/sub divide. However, for what it...

Re: Did the Dragon Boxes ever release in Europe?

The German DVDs are in 4:3 as well. With that said, they're most definitely not based on the Dragon Boxes...an item of controversy surrounding those DVDs is that they are edited, dub-only DVDs that use the footage originally provided to them by the AB Groupe (which was nearly 20 years old at the ti...

That one's pretty good. Of course, Kageyama's vocal talent shines through, and the refrain at the end was pretty grand. Kinda like how it feels when you're growin' up.

Refering to the Japanese version as a "dub"

So, I've seen this discussion a few times, so I thought it was time we found an answer. Should we refer to the Japanese version as a "dub"? First off, here is the Merriam-Webster Dictionary's definition of "dub": 1: to add (sound effects or new dialogue) to a film or to a radio o...
