Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.
Hopefully, Kami will pull some strings and allow Toriyama to keep his body in the Otherworld, if not because he's my manga hero. Perhaps then he can get a day off on Earth and show the results of his Afterlife drawings. Rest in peace for now.

Re: Dragons and Potara
What if Piccolo took Porunga's place in the Namekian dragon balls and got Gohan to wish his freedom? Would that be too Return of Jafar for Dragon Ball? I'm just glad that he became Orange instead.

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
You're going to get a lot of answers in the realm of "Gohan was at 50% power when he beat Cell therefore he's twice as strong at full power". In my opinion, "Super" Perfect Cell powered up to be his equal in the sense that, if they had to duke it out by fighting melee, then Gohan...

Re: If Freeza wanted to be taller, why didn't he stick around in his 2nd form or design his 1st form taller?
The true answer is that Freeza has a sense of fashion and does not like striped sleeves and leggings. He had rather be naked with the jewels showing. It takes some time to build the confidence for that.

Re: The real reason why Broly hates Goku answered by Takao Koyama
Empathy, and not hate, is what Broly should have towards Goku in case that was the justification. Goku's crying might have been traumatic, but it comes off as something that people grow to be annoyed at, and not to resent whom Broly hardly knew. Movie 8 is a fun romp from a cool time to be a Super S...

Re: Frieza, Cell and Buu Saga: which one has the LESS iconic moments?
It's very difficult for a Dragon Ball arc to have the least amount of iconic moments, but if I were to compare them to the arc's overall running length, then the Freeza arc dragged and diluted their overall importance to the story. Vegeta's effort to get the Dragon Balls is somehow subdued by the su...

Re: Potential Future Arcs
Goku and Vegeta explore the depths of Hell by visiting their former enemies' prisons to face Akkuman who's been training with every villain sent there. He has closed the gates of reincarnation and therefore stopped the cycle to repopulate the universe with new beings. His goal is to make Hell an exo...

Re: Other series like DBZ Kai?
Some instruments were added to the original soundtrack. I would not count that to be a rescore, but they were cues not found in the original, and I noticed because they were distracting.

Re: Other series like DBZ Kai?
Think of any butchered series from the 90s which got released incomplete on DVD with a completely different cast and music (I'm looking at Spider-Man The Animated Series in Portugal).

Re: DBZ (finally) returns as the main series brand for marketing as DBS brand is on it's death bed
The real question is: if Dragon Ball Super was so bad, then how does a change in brand improve the series production, when the same mistakes could taint DBZ otherwise? We already had two Dragon Ball Z movies, not better than Broly and Super Hero, in my opinion, which paved the way for Super, and the...

Re: Which villain does Goku hate the most?
At some point, it must have been Moro, because he pretty much made an angel disappear, triggering Goku to defeat him, but not without showing some disdain by giving him a senzu bean first. Since Ultra Instincts is supposed to be kept through calm, his anger did not show until Goku unleashed everythi...

Beers and Champa are itching for a fusion in the vein of Evil and Good Boo. Instead of merging their names, just call them Black Velvet.

Re: Was DB Super a flop in the grand scheme of things?
I can only talk from my experience without information here: I returned to Dragon Ball with Super because I had witnessed Dragon Ball Z in my childhood. I don't think that Super would have grabbed my attention in case I was a newcomer and that may be a reason for the title to not have the same stayi...

Re: Dragon Ball's spiritual successor
This is gonna sound crazy, but I think Dragon Ball's spiritual successor is... One Punch Man. Goku and Saitama's paths are TOO similar. It just seems like OPM removes the insane amount of elements that mask what Goku has become/is. But they're both doing/becoming the same thing. It also seems like ...

Re: Dragon Ball's spiritual successor
Nothing quite like it, since it's so disjoint in story telling, but consistent in art style that you would be hard pressed to find an author who's not artsy for the sake of it, and whose ideas are not made to be out there on purpose. Toriyama was very genuine! Part of it was due to his contributing ...

A movie where a tournament is mostly present is Dragon Ball Mystical Adventure while Dragon Ball Z Bojack Unbound was the entire tournament. You could say that Fusion Reborn has Goku fighting in one too but it's very minor.

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
No offense taken with nerd, but I don't think that people organizing their thoughts with math is what defines them as such, because writing long posts over the internet would be equally nerd-y. It just so happens that a math formula with symbols for numbers is more compact, and it's always from the ...
